A lot of this stuff is pretty obvious, but from someone who looks up the definitions to words she already knows, sometimes it's nice to see it spelled out in front of you so you don't have to think. 

Here is a list of characteristics to give you ideas for describing emotions.


Happy

-Smiling, subtly or obviously

-Wide eyes

-Jumping up and down/bouncing

-Laughing/giggling

-Clapping

-Squealing


Angry

-Red in the face

-Twitching brow or nostril

-Arms crossed

-Hunched posture

-Hands on hips

-Jaw clenched

-Furrowed brow

-Fists

-Protruding veins 

-Scowling mouth

-Shaking


Sad

-Teary eyes

-Quivering lip

-Slouched

-Eye rubbing

-Leaning head on hand

-Lost in thought

-Wavering/low voice

-Lack of eye contact/hiding tears

-Sullen silence

-Crying


Tired

-Drooping eyelids

-Red-rimmed eyes/dark circles

-Slouched

-Lethargic

-Tries to keep eyes open

-Drags feet


Embarrassment

-Blushing

-Not making eye contact/bowed head

-Holding back tears

-Upset stomach

-clenched teeth/jaw

-nervous ticks

-low voice

-Stuttering/can't find words


Nervousness

-Fidgeting

-Tapping hands/feet

-Shifting from foot to foot

-Stuttering

-Biting bottom lip

-Upset stomach

-Lump in throat

-Hair twirling/twisting the end of sleeve

-Butterflies

-self-soothing fidgets/stimming


Shocked

-Wide eyes

-Loose jaw

-Jumping back in surprise

-Hand covering mouth

-Fast-beating heart

-Hand over heart 

-Loss for words


Fear

-Hands shaking

-Weak in the knees

-Covering mouth with hand

- Fast/heavy breathing

- Heart pounding

-Dizzyness

-Whimpering

- Jumbled thoughts

-Dissociation/Not being able to think


Hot 

-Red face

-Sweating

-Fanning self

-Pulling at clothes

-Out of breath

-Moving slowly

-Drooping eyes

-Slow


Cold

-Arms crossed/hugs self

-Chattering teeth

-Hunched shoulders

-Pulling sleeves down

-Blowing on hands

-Rubbing hands together


Confident

-Open body language (hands on hips, thumbs looped around backpack straps, arms out in general. Opposite of hunched with crossed arms)

-High chin

-Strut/swagger

-louder voice
