I asked why writers like receiving votes to show readers what writers get out of them clicking that orange star. You got the power. Here's why you should use it.

WendyKopulchu The reason I like getting votes is because I like to see that people are reading my story. I feel like I develop a relationship with the reader by being able to follow their progress.

Living_Tribunal I like when people vote because it shows me that people like my writing and they actually took time to read

SillyMunchkin585 It's basically for validation. The same as with likes on Instagram, people are liking what you put out there, giving you a sense of approval

Alicia19M Though votes don't determine that people like the story, or even are reading it (as sometimes, people will vote to help encourage the writer or whatnot), but personally -- if the vote is genuine - it allows me to know that people are taking time out of their day to read my work and that they do like it enough to encourage me to continue.

I don't go off by numbers (more by comments -- I love receiving comments on my work), but every time someone votes, it makes my day. :)

LifeAsTheMoon I prefer comments over votes.

ElleThatsMe I prefer people commenting over voting. It gives me a bit of encouragement, but I like when I know where I did good and where I should improve or at least what my readers think.

_candygirl3_ I like them because it shows me someone really liked what I wrote, and it makes me happy if what I write makes someone else happy. :3

novology  I like when I receive votes because that means a reader took the time to read the entire chapter, and like it enough to vote it. the fact that someone took time out of their hands to read anything I create brings me happiness. c:
