At the request of one of the readers, here is how Roman numerals work.
I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
L = 50
C = 100
You can have up to three I's next to each other. To add a number, put it on the right side of the largest numeral (one of the five listed above). To subtract, put it on the left of the largest numeral. For example, four is IV. (5-1=4) Eleven is XI (10+1). Forty is XL (50-10). Forty six is XLVI
