I have this sheet that my 6th grade English teacher handed out called "400 Ways to Say Said," and I have typed the whole thing out below.
Before you go hog wild, let me just suggest using this sparingly. I used to reference this sheet a lot for my writing, and my professor would always cross out my "said" alternatives. I asked him why one day, and he made a pretty good point. It gets distracting. "Said" becomes invisible after a while, while using a bunch of alternates can stop the reader, taking attention off of the dialogue. Just something to keep in mind! Enjoy!
