JIMS POV

Emilys family were coming over for Christmas. To say I'm nervous is an understatement. I'm terrified. I proposed to her without meeting her family and asking her dads permission. She constantly tried to remind me how laid back and relaxed her family were. Due to her parents being divorced, only her mom and grandparents would be coming over. But that's still worrying enough. The week before Christmas, Emily forced me to deep clean the whole house with her before they arrived.
Emily was busy preparing everything for tomorrow as tonight was Christmas Eve. The soft smells of her cooking from the living room was calming in a sense.  The cooling wine glass in my hand. Life was perfect.

"Jimmmm" I heard Emily whine my name from the kitchen.

"Yessssss" I whined back to her.

"Can you come give me a hand please?" She asked ever so sweetly.

I rose from the arm chair in the cosy living room and made my way to the kitchen. Emily was stood there, apron on, hair in a bun and glasses on. She looked beautiful.

"You called for my m'lady" I bowed to her.

She let out a chuckle, "could you me the cranberries from the top cupboard over there?" She pointed to the cupboard in the far corner of the kitchen.

I reached up and grabbed the cranberries for what I could assume she was making cranberry jelly. I placed the jar next too her and she placed a kiss onto my cheek.

"Is there anything I can help you with? Anything at all? Because I know how much you hate it when someone is cooking with you?" I laughed.

"Would you be an angel and start on the dishes please?" She gave me her signature "pretty please" face and it's a face I can't resist.

"Of course you've worked really hard beautiful" I replied placing a chaste kiss to her forehead and then going to the sink to start the dishes. She was quietly playing Christmas music from the radio and humming along so I decided to start singing. It was that 'baby it's cold outside' song.

"But baby it's cold outside" I singsonged.

Emily caught wind of what I was doing and joined in. "I've got to go away" she sung with her back turned to me.

"But baby it's cold outside"

"This evening has been... so very nice"

"I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice"

"My mother will start to worry"

"Beautiful what's your hurry"

"My father will be pacing the floor"

"Listen to that fire place roar"

"So really i'd better scurry"

"Beautiful what's your hurry"

"Well maybe just half a drink more"

"I'll put some records on whilst I pour"

By this time I drew my attention away from the dishes, turned around, grabbed Emily by the waist, placed her hand in mine and we started dancing whilst we were singing in the kitchen. We both couldn't stop smiling at each other. It was beyond perfect. She was beaming, even if she wasn't covered in flour and versions other ingredients.

"I love you" she blurted out after the song finished.

"I love you too my darling" I replied as she smiled up at me then rested her head on my chest as we continued to sway to the music that was playing.
