Chapter 12

"Guella, wag kang tumakbo! Baka madapa ka anak." rinig kong sigaw ni mama.

Imbes na sumagot at tumawa lang ako at patuloy na nagtutumakbo sa parke habang hinahabol ang paru-paru. We are having a picnic.

"Hayaan mo na ang anak mo, Gwen." natatawang ani ni papa.

"Baka madapa iyan." rinig kong ani ni mama.

There voice soon faded. The beautiful butterfly flapped it's wing majestically as it ran away from me. My eyes were to fixed in the butterfly.

Seconds later I found myself on the ground. A warm hands developed around my body.

"Guella! Ayan nadapa ka." mama shouted while hugging me.

I was woken up with my phone ringing out loud. Inaantok na inabot ko iyon at sinagot. I placed my phone beside my ear with eyes still closed.

"Hello, ma'am." an unknown voice greeted.

The background was a massy sound. I can hear the sirene of an ambulance and other sounds

"Sino po kayo?" inaantok kong tanong.

"Ma'am anak ho ba kayo ni Misis Gwen Clian?" tanong nito.

Napamulat mata ako. "Opo, bakit po?"

"Ang ina niyo po na aksidente. Nasa Adella Private Hospital po dinala ang katawan niya. Dead on arrival po." pagpapaliwanag ng tumatawag.

I feel like I lost all of my strength. Ano daw? Dead on arrival? The words slowly sink inside my head. Kaagad akong bumangon sa kama at dali-daling pumunta sa ospital.

"You can't be dead ma." I whispered to myself as tears start flowing into my cheeks. "Ma dapat prank lang ito pagkarating ko sa ospital."

Please don't leave me yet.

Mahigpit kong hinawakan ang steering wheel habang nagmamaneho. I stepped on the gas. Minutes until I arrived at the hospital.

"Miss, nasaan ang katawan ni Gwen Clian." aligaga kong tanong.

"Sa ER po ma'am."

Kumaripas ako ng takbo papunta roon. My tears can't stop on flowing down while I rush on my way into the ER. I saw Cyan standing near the door.

"Sugar." lumapit ito para yumakap.

"Buhay si mama, hindi ba?" inside me there is still hope. "Hindi pa siya patay, hindi ba?

Hindi ito sumagot at umiling lamang. Binuksan ko iyon. There was a body lying covered with a clean white fabric.

Lacas loob kong binuksan iyon. I can feel my knees weaken when I saw my mother's face. I touched her pale white cold skin.

"Ma, bumangon kana diyan." I tried to wake her up with light taps. "Ma wag ka naming magprank ng ganiyan."

My heart clenches in so much pain. It's getting harder and harder for me to breath. My fingers shakes while I stroke her hair.

Napahikbi ako. "Ma hindi na nakakatuwa ang joke mo." I shake her stiff body. "Ma!"

Napahagulhol ako sa sobrang sakit na nararamdaman ko. Napaluhod ako sa sahig at humawak sa braso ni mama.

"Ma!" sigaw ko bakasakaling magising siya. "Ma huwag mo akong iwan. Ma bangon ka na diyan."

A warm body comforted me. Mahigpit ako nitong niyakap. "Sugar tama na."

Umiling ako. "No, buhay pa siya." I hold my mother's cold arm. "Ma naman, bangon ka na diyan."

"She's dead already." rinig kong ani Cyan.
