ALEXIA

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I said to Alec as he sat next to me for my daily check up. It has been three days since my father left me at Devon's door and surprisingly my wounds where healing very fast it probably had something to do with the high-level warlock who was tending to me.
"Like what,"he said as he sat down next to me , pulling  out a small vile filled with a red liquid.
"Like you want to disect me," I said.
"You intrigue me," he said , his voice cool and collected.
"Should I be insulted because I am." I said to him. A small grin appeared on his face. I couldn't help but wonder what Devon would like with a grin on his face.
"I like you,"Alec said out of nowhere.
"I like you too,"I answered back. "If it weren't for you I don't know were I'd be . My wounds have never taken such a  short time to heal, ever. So thank you,"I said trying to fit as much sincerity in my voice as I could.
"I saw your wounds,"he said softly as he poured the contents of the vile he was holding into a cup. "Thats why I fed you dragon's blood while you were unconscious."
"What,"I said expecting him to say, "Relax its not its not real blood."
Instead he said " Yes!"
I was still recovering from the shock when he continued." I've never seen anything like what you did,"
"What do you mean?"l asked.
"The dragon blood is used to enhance healing properties but even then it takes the strongest wolf a few weeks to recover from the wounds that were on your body. It took you two days," he explained. Many thoughts were running through my head. I hated things I couldn't understand.
"I'm not fully healed," I pointed out.
"Like I said the improvement is alarming ,"
"Is there something wrong with me?" I asked but I knew the answer to that question. What I didn't expect was his answer.
"Yes I believe so,"he said coldly. I looked up at him a questioning expression plastered on my face. He must have  noticed because the next statement was less offensive. "But aren't we all,"
I smiled. At least I had someone who could comfort me.
"Anyways drink up. We need to get you back to a hundred percent,"he said handing me the cup.
"Is this dragon's blood,"I said staring at the contents of the cup with disgust.
"Yes. Go on drink up,"he said as he got to his feet.
I brought the cup to my lips hesitantly.
"Come on its the last of my dragon blood. I'm still pissed to have wasted it on you, so drink up," he said sternly.
I dipped the contents into my mouth and let me say I've never tasted anything so heavenly. I let it sit in my mouth for a moment before swallowing.
"It tastes good,"
"You ,"Alec said pointing a finger at me. "Are a very weird girl," he continued.
I looked up at him and a low chuckle escaped my lips.
I was in the middle of laughing with Alec when a low growl assaulted my ears. I turned to the door and a livid Devon stood there, his eyes red and his fists balled at his side.
"Devon ," Alec said with a smile on his face." What brings you here?"
"I came to tell you that training starts tomorrow, "Devon said his voice barely audible.
"Training for who?" I asked innocently.
"For who else ,"he snapped at me. "You, idiot."
"That's absurd," Alec answered back on my behalf. "She hasn't fully healed,"
"Can she walk?"he asked sternly.
"Barely,"Alec said .
Devon took one step into the room. A small gasp escaped my lips and he stopped.
"Can you walk?"the question was directed to me.
"Yes ," I  said eagerly.
"Good ,"he said." We start training at exactly four am. If you're late you won't be walking by the end of the day ,"
Alec sat beside me scratching his head. A worried look was on his face. "Alec if you're  done playing house come to my office,"he commanded before turning and leaving. I couldn't help but stare.
"You don't know what you've got yourself into, "Alec said as he collected all his staff and walked out of the room.
I was left alone in the room with my thoughts.
Training. I've never been to a training ever. The thought excited me. I didn't care if I couldn't lift my arm without screaming. I had this odd urge to make Devon proud.
I was sitting alone for about twenty minutes when Tara came in with a tray of food.
"You're a life saver ,Tara. I'm starving," I said taking the tray from her.
"You're recovering very well,"she said retreating to one corner bowing her head. She was a girl of very few words and I respected that. I'd seen her only a handful of times after I'd woken up and she seem pretty cool in her own weird way.
"Thanks to you and Alec,"I said.
"You and Master Alec are getting close,"she said it as an accusation. For a moment I thought she was trying to warn me off her man then she said, "Alpha Devon won't like that,"
"I don't mean to stand in between their bromance or anything, " I said innocently.
"Bromance ,"she quoted me," Interesting choice of words."
"Enough about me," I said " What about you?"
"What about me?"
"How does it feel being a warlock's apprentice." I asked genuinely interested.
"It's not as glamorous as you think."she said .
"Then leave. Find something glamorous. Life is too short not to be happy."
"It's not that easy darling." she said
"It can't be that hard."
"I like the way you look at life. It's  unique and beautiful. You're naive. You have nothing that you truly love enough to sacrifice your happiness for. In other words you're free."
"I'm free because I have nothing that I love. That makes no sense,"I said but deep done I knew it did. I knew that I had nothing tying me to anything. I had nothing I truly love. I was free but I was lonely.
"It will."was all she said.
"So you love someone here?" I asked.
"No. I'm here for a completely different reason,"she said "I'm a seer so I go were fate takes me."
"Fate talks,"I said realising my stupidity when Tara gave me questioning look.
"I woke up in cave in the forest. I started walking and I came here. I have an odd feeling everytime I leave. Being here just feels right," she explained.
"So you can like tell the future. Can you tell me mine,"I said.
"That's not how it works,"she pointed out before taking my almost empty tray. "Get some sleep , you have a big day ahead of you. "
She switched of the light and left. I stared after her, many questions running through my mind. I closed my eyes and let sleep take me , wondering what tomorrow would bring.
