"Do I look sexy in this?" I ask looking at my friend, Beatrice.
"Pfft, nope" says Beatrice fixing her collar. We are breaking into a ball, The Stoneshire Ball, dressed as generals. The reason: the ball is one of the biggest balls ever, the royal family is hosting it. ALSO, we never get to go to places like this. I know it sounds crazy, breaking into a ball dressed as generals, but why not? It's pretty funny too: tricking rich people into giving us respect.
"You ready?" I ask, nervously craving my knuckles.
"Yup, we gotta go now, before they close the door, Arthur" answers Beatrice. She goes to run for it, but I stop her with my arm.
"Okay okay okay, don't be obvious though, Beattie." I say.
"Ugh, fine, let's go" Beatrice replied, grabbing my hand and speed walking to the door. Right as we walked into the humungous ball room, the doors slammed close.
"Perfect timing." I whisper into Beatrice's ear. She smirks and nods in response. I didn't realize it until now, but the room is beautiful. The ceiling is covered in art of angels and the corners of each wall is filled with shiny gold. The chandelier is made of diamonds and is extremely bright, it lights up the whole ball room. And trust me, the room is huge.
"Holy shit this place is beautiful, right Arthur?" Beatrice says, eyes wide, staring at the ceiling. No words can come out, so I just nod.
"Welcome, welcome, ladies, gentleman, and others, I am king Frances Stoneshire and this is my wife, Dorian Stoneshire. Unfortunately, our daughter, Claire, said they felt sick and didn't feel like coming today. And our younger daughter, Sophie, we decided, isn't old enough to join us. This is the first ball we have ever hosted! So, may the ball commence! Everyone find a partner to dance with and have fun." Frances says, bringing his arms up dramatically. The king took his seat and the small orchestra in the corner started to play a waltz. Everyone in the room had a partner and started to sway to the music. I quickly turn my head to try and find Beatrice. Maybe she could dance with me? But, nah, Beatrice isn't anywhere. I look around frantically. I see a suspicious girl sneaking into the room, closing the door quietly. She was wearing a very fluffy dress, colored a light pastel pink and nice white silk gloves:
She had shoulder length hair with short bangs that was a chestnut brown. The one thing off about her was that she was wearing a masquerade mask:
