Claire smiled at herself as they got ready an hour before the date. NOT A DATE, haha, whoops, definitely not a date... Arthur made sure to make that clear... anyways, Claire just took a shower and she brushed her hair for the 100th time before standing up and giggling like a girl with a crush (oh wait, she is). They made their way, nearly skipping, towards their closet and opened the door. There was a large walk-in closet full of different fancy clothing. She was searching through the huge selection of clothes to choose from. They threw some clothes on the ground, and some on a chair nearby. She exhaled in frustration as she went through more clothes. They were unsure what was good enough to wear. They really wanted to wow Arthur, a lot. Wanted to make him blush. Make him stare. Even though she complains about Arthur to Sophie and would constantly banter with him, she likes him. A lot. There were foots steps and Claire quickly flipped their head. She sighed in relief when she saw that it was just Ross (the servant from chapter 3).
"What's wrong? I heard some angry groans," Ross said with a smirk. (There might be some confusion with why Ross pops up out of no where and didn't show up in other chapters, the reason for that is: Ross is usually busy helping other people in the mansion, or he's busy gossiping with the other servants. He mainly is supposed to guard Claire's room and check in on her time to time, if you couldn't tell, he sucks at his job.)
"Ugh, maybe you can help me," said Claire, "I need a good outfit, a really cute, but sexy kinda one"
Ross looked confused, but then just concerned. He responded with, "For what? Princess, I'm a bit worried. I'm glad you're finding people, but don't do anything too crazy."
"No no no, I'm not doing anything weird, Ross, I swear. I just kinda am hanging out with someone soon."
"Oooooo, is it the boy you talked about before?" asked Ross, with raised eyebrows.
"Maybe..." Claire answered, looking to the side.
"Okay, then I must help" replied Ross with a determined smile. He picked up the clothes on the ground and searched through it. He picked out a pair of wedged shoes from it and nodded to himself. Then he walked over to the clothes that were still hanging in the closet and picked out a cute light pink dress. He then found a necklace that was laying around on Claire's make-up table. "I've created the best outfit ever for you. This boy won't know what hit him. Here, change into it and show me after."
"Thank you," Claire replied, their smile finally returning. She took the clothes/accessories and walked into her bathroom. She got in and closed the door. She changed quickly and was delighted at the results. She saw herself in the mirror, her eyes twinkled. The dress looked like:
The shoes looked like:
The necklace looked like:
It was perfect. All it needed was a bit of pink/peach-ish lipstick with some lipgloss. They twirled and the dress twirled with them. They almost jumped up and down with happiness. Claire opened the bathroom door and walked out.
"You look great! Princess, if this boy doesn't propose to you immediately, he's insane." Ross exclaimed.
"I know" Claire said, feeling confident, a little arrogant, as usual. They flipped their hair.
Ross replied with a laugh. Claire then went to find her lipstick and lipgloss to finish the look. She finally found it and she put it on. They smacked their lips and turned to Ross for opinions. He responded with, "It really does finish the look, I love it."
"Good. Thank you," Claire said, "you can go now. I didn't mean to take up your time."
"Yay, I'm finally free haha" Ross replied, jokingly. They both chuckled and then Ross left as he wished Claire luck on the "date". She just rolled her eyes. There was boredom for a second, until there was a knock on the door.
"Ross? Seriously, again?" Claire asked.
"No! It's me!" Answered Sophie, in a hushed tone. Sophie opened the door and walked into Claire's room.
"Sophie, what the hell!", Claire said, "get out!"
"I just wanted to wish you luck on your date," said Sophie, as she winked.
"For the last time! It's not a date!" Claire replied. She wished it was a date.
Sophie had a smirk on and said, "Suuuuuure, you know I could hear you that time Arthur broke into your room." Claire mentally smacked their head, they should've remembered how thin the walls are. It's so embarrassing.
Claire scoffed and responded, "Ugh, who cares." That was a big fat lie. "How do you even know Arthur's name??"
"Ohh, we have a quick talk before he snuck into your room. I almost hit him with my hair dryer, glad I didn't though, he seems fun." Sophie answered.
"WHAT?!" Claire yelled, "what did you talk about!!!"
Sophie shrugged and said, "Nothing important, I threatened him, he explained, and I told him to swoon you, no biggie."
Claire groaned, "So embarrassing!"
"You're obviously having your own mental breakdown, so I'm gonna leave, good luck! Make him fall for you!" Sophie said as she walked out of Claire's room and into her own. Now all Claire needed to do was wait. Wait for the PURELY platonic "date". She sighed as she walked over and sat on her silk bed.
