"goodbye," you waved as you said goodbye to your co workers and walked out.
The glimmering waters in front of the shop caught your attention like every day and you found yourself watching the surfers catching the waves with a smile.

There was one that always stood out to you. He often came to the shop but you did not know his name. You avoided talking to the surfers mostly. To much lingering feelings.

He jumped on the waves and moved like a pro, showing his surfing.
You chuckled as you noticed you were not the only one checking the surfer out.
A few people stopped and pointed towards the blonde in the water.

You took a step forward into the sand and gave the ocean one last look before turning your back and walking over to your car.
What he had was something you could only dream off. On your way to your car you tried not to glance at all the surfers. It made you think about it again.
You tried to watch the families instead, smiling at the kids and teens having fun on the beach.
Maybe Chiaki and you could come back today or tomorrow, it would be nice to walk along the beach with him.
You day dreamed about walking, feet in the water feeling the waves and holding hands with Chiaki.

Before driving home you checked your phone and saw that your boyfriend had still not read  your message from one hour ago, asking if he wanted to go out with you tonight. You wanted to visit a seaside restaurant with Chiaki. Maybe that was the chance to walk the beach after.
Maybe he was working, Chiaki always had been a workaholic. It would not be the first time if he called you and told you he would have to stay over night because there was something urgent he had to finish. Leaving you alone home alone. It was the price he had to pay for his promotion.
Sadly it also affected you also.
It had been days since you woke up and talked to him. Your schedules were so different that by the time he came home you would always be sleeping since work started early.

Chiaki was always asleep when you woke up, because he started work late, often working into the night.

You sighed and threw your phone on the seat next to you before driving home.
The sun was blazing today so you decided to keep the windows down, so you could enjoy the wind.

Everything seemed so strange. It was the same city, the same streets and same buildings but it was bustling with people.
There was laughter everywhere.
It had been a long time since you decided to leave work early.
Your boss had the rule that employees could leave earlier on Fridays but you never did.
You enjoyed working in the surf shop.
You talked to all kind of people. You could see the ocean. It was everything you wanted.

Even if you could not be out there anymore you felt that the ocean will always be home to you. The connection between the ocean and you was something that could never be severed. No matter what.

You turned into your street and noticed the car of Chiaki in front of the house.

Your brows furrowed.
Chiaki was home? But did he not text you this morning that he would be out until later tonight?
