The next morning you put some extra effort into your appearance, wanting to look professional for your job interview.
You smiled at yourself in the mirror. "Yougot this!" before you left.

The shop was closer to your home then you originally thought and it did not take long for you to arrive. A lot earlier then you needed.

Since you still had sometime left before your appointment you decided to walk around a bit. Even though you have been living here for some months you were busy arranging everything. So everytime you walked outside everything still felt new to you.
It was so different then (Hometown).

The fresh air seemed to calm your nerves a bit. Still you wondered what you would do if they did not take you. Just because you had an interview did not mean that they would take you.
No it could also happen that you arrived and they will tell you that they have someone else for the job already or that you did not fit the shops image...

All sort of scenarios were playing in your mind. You just hoped that every single one of them was false.
You took the time and decided to go in a few minutes early.

Better to early then to late.
You took a deep breath before your hand pushed open the door.
The inside was styled in a traditional way and you gaped at the simple beauty of it.
Even though there was nothing special in the room the aura and the feeling you got from being in the room was calming, a feeling you normally only got when you were at home.

"can I help you?" the man sitting at the Chabudai ( a traditional Japanese table with short legs).

You smiled at the male and bowed. "Good morning. I have a interview with Mr. Sakurayashiki."
"ah then you must be miss (Y/N). Please call me Kaoru. Take a seat." He gestured in front of him and you gladly sat down across from the male.

"would you mind waiting a few minutes? I have to finish the piece. Its hard to stop in the middle and then continue later." He pointed to a piece of unfinished calligraphy on the table and you nodded. You understood him. It was a pain to stop in the middle and then pick it up later.
While Kaoru painted the letters onto the blank paper you took a good look at him.
He seemed very young for someone to run their own store.

He seemed to be around your age.
Maybe he was the bosses son.

You quietly gazed at the elegant strokes he made with the brush. Without getting ink on his yukata.

Your eyes glanced at the paper and you had to admit that the simple word written was displayed beautifully.

Kaoru had long pink hair that reminded you of cherry blossoms.
They must be almost the same color. Maybe that was the reason the shop had the word 'sakura' in it. Well or because it was his last name... you guessed it was one of these traditional family businesses.

His hair was loosely tied back. His eyes were behind simple glasses. He looked so concentrated it was amazing how focused he could be with someone unfamiliar watching his every move. Not the slightest discomfort was showing.
Suddenly Kaoru put the brush down and looked you in the eye.

"So. Why do you want to work here?"
"I love art. I always wanted to pursue somethingin that field.

Since I moved here Ithought this would be the perfect opportunity."
Kaoru nodded.
"well, then do you have any experience in calligraphy?"
"sadly no. But I am willing to learn. I am a fast learner. I had a time where I made ink paintings. I know how to work with these brushes." You told him truthfully.

It was a negative point for you that you never worked with Japanese calligraphy but where you lived there was no such thing.
Calligraphy was just beautifully writing things.
Here that word, that line of work had a slightly different meaning.
You hoped that you experience in painting with ink was giving you credit to make up for what you lacked in experience and learning from start.

"honestly I was looking for someone who had experience with calligraphy." Kaoru confessed and rested his head on his fist.
The smile dissappered from your face.

So it was a rejection.

"but. Maybe after seeing your art skills with ink paintings I will change my mind. Do you have some with you?"

your eyes widened. He was giving you a chance.
"I don't have the originals with me but I have pictures on my phone." You told him excited and fumbled to get your phone out and show him. Your heart thumped loudly in your chest as you began opening your gallery searching for your paintings.

You placed your phone on the table. "these are all paintings I made. Fell free to look as long as you like." You told him.

Kaoru leaned forward and looked trough the paintings you made.
"this is impressive. Were you ever taught?" he asked after awhile and gave you your phone back.
"sadly no. In my home town the people were more on the sporty side then on the artsy.
I taught myself."
Kaoru clapped his hands.
"even better then! I wont have to teach you anything to difficult. You already managed to learn the basics by yourself.
We just have to work on precision and display."

"I will try.. wait! Does that mean I have the job?!"
Kaoru chuckled at your eagerness. "I would appreciate the help." he pushed up his glasses with one hand and gave you a polite smile.
Excited you sprung up and grabbed his hands. You shook them up and down grinning at him.

"I would be honored."

"then this is settled. Can you start next week?"

"yeah!" you were immensely happy. You had managed to get a job.
"great. Carla. "Kaoru called someone and you looked around expecting someone to enter.

But a robotic voice resounded instead. " set a appointment for next week Monday."

Kaoru stood up from his seat coming around and opened the door for you with a polite bow.
"well then until Monday." you told him with a smile and exited.
The door closed behind you and you grinned like an idiot. "YES!!" You exclaimed to loud before slamming your hand on your mouth and blushing.
Two teenagers a bit more far away laughed at your exclamation which made you even more embarrassed. If they had heard you from that far then Kaoru must have heard as well. Embarrassing~.

You pulled out your phone as you remembered something.
"ah!" You turned around and entered again.

Kaoru was still standing in the room and looked at you surprised. He had his phone in his hand, so you assumed he was speaking with someone.

"excuse me for a moment, Joe." he said irritated. Was he angry that you came back?

"did you forget something?" Kaoru had a smile on his face again and you wondered if you had just imagined his irritated voice.

"not really. I just changed my number and I wanted to give it to you in case something happens."
Kaoru looked at you his cheeks slightly glowing.

"I mean... we will be working together," he told you bashfully.

The caller on the phone said something loudly but it was to quiet for you to make out words.
"Shut up!!" Kaoru yelled and ended the call placing the phone on the table.
You chuckled at the lost of his composure.

"here," you told him and pulled out a piece of paper with your number in it.

"thank you." he said as he took the paper.
"I thought I already have your contact information?" He asked as he looked at the numbers. Kaoru looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah. I changed my number. I thought its important for you to have my actual one."
"Thanks again," he said grateful.

"well. Until Monday then!" This time you left the shop for real.

Kaoru pushed his glasses up after you left the shop and cleared his throat.

"Carla. Memorize thenumber I am about to give you and safe the contact under (Y/N)"
