Chapter 5

It was Monday morning the next week. Today was the day you started working with Kaoru.

You yawned as you walked into the bathroom.

It felt like you got no sleep at all tonight. The nervousness was what kept you up.

It was ridiculous why you would be nervous.
You already knew Kaoru and he was the only other person working at Sakurayashiki.

But you stomach decided to hurt anyways.

You took a long warm shower to calm down before eating breakfast and going to work.

The shower really helped, you thought as you walked along the pavement.
People around you made their way to work just like you.
Many of them dressed in business attire.

You looked down at your outfit and hoped it was appropriate enough.

On the other hand Kaoru was wearing a yukata... so maybe you must wear a Kimono as well?
Hopefully not. You disliked kimonos. They made it hard to walk in and that always bothered you a lot.
Well, I will find out when I arrive at the shop.
Watching everyone around you felt good.
It made you think that this would be your new routine.

This would become your life.
It was something you would probably enjoy for a long time.

Next to surfing, art was always your passion.

You crossed the street where you met the green haired male and smiled at the encounter.
When you looked up again you saw a flash of green pass your vision and you looked around.

You must have been mistaken.
There was no one around with green hair or similar build like him.

You bit your lip.

What would have happened if you met the man now?

What would you do if you met him again?

You would probably stand there like an idiot and not know what to say.
That can't happen.

You continued on your way.

"oh how cute!" You spotted a cat licking its paw a few meters away.

You slowly walked towards it, you wanted to take a picture.
It looked so cute.
You crouched before the cat and held out the hand without the phone while opening the camera on the other.
"come here, you cutie."
You called the cat to get its attention.

It looked at you and meowed loudly before sniffing your hand.
You laughed as the cat rubbed its head against your palm.
Obviously asking for you to pet her head.
You let your hand run over its soft fur for a bit while talking to the cat.
To others it may have looked weird but you did not care.
After a good minute you pulled your hand back and took a few pictures before the cat decided it wanted the attention of someone else.
You stood up and looked at the pictures you took while walking.
You chortled at how bad the pictures turned out.

Almost all of them were unfocused or blurry because the cat kept moving.

"So much for cute pictures!"

Once Sakurayashiki came into view you felt your heartrate pick up.
You stopped for a second to calm your breathing and put a smile on your face.

"good morning," you said as you entered the shop.
Kaoru sat at the chabudai again. Instead of painting utensils there were two cups with streaming tea.
"good morning (Y/N)," Kaoru greeted you.
You sat down in front of him and Kaoru gestured for you to take the tea.
You took the warm cup into your hands, sipping on the hot tea.
Kaoru did not seem to mind the heat because he was casually drinking the tea.

Kaoru explained the history behind the shop and his work background for the first two hours.
It was amazing what he managed to archive.
It made you wonder if Kaoru was older then his appearance gave away.
