Bryce Russell-Stark's POV

"Bryce?"

Bryce looked up from her book to find Pepper standing over her.

"Hey, your phone was ringing, so I brought it to you," Pepper said, handing her the vibrating phone.

"Thanks," Bryce replied, smiling and taking the phone. She noticed the caller was labeled "Dad" and sighed before hitting the "accept" button.

"Hey, what's up?" she said in greeting.

"Not much. I just need you to come in," Tony replied.

"I thought we were taking a break from each other," Bryce replied.

From across the room, Pepper froze.

"Pep and I are taking a break from each other," Tony corrected. "You and I are not, I just told you to go be with Pepper for a little bit,"

Bryce set down her book. "Where do you need me to be?"

"Nowhere!" Pepper protested, crossing the room and snatching the phone from Bryce's hand. She tapped the "speaker" button and said, "Tony, Bryce shouldn't have to go on missions during this time! We talked about this!"

"I know, I know, I- it's just- it's really important, and-" Tony argued.

"No way! I don't care how important it is! Last time Bryce went on a mission with you guys-"

"She lifted Mjolnir and smashed a bunch of robots. I don't see the big deal, Pep, nothing has ever gone wrong with her in battle-"

"HOW DO YOU THINK SHE GOT PTSD?!"

"...that was from getting brainwashed by a scepter. Look, nobody has a scepter that we're gonna zap her with, we just need her help turning in Cap,"

"Cap?" Bryce piped up. "I've missed a lot, haven't I?"

"Yup. We need to turn in Cap. He's a criminal," Tony clarified. "But more importantly, Cap won't attack or hurt her,"

Pepper sighed. "That's all you're doing? Turning in Cap?"

"Yes, we're tracking down and arresting Rogers. That's all," Tony said.

Pepper sighed again, then gave Bryce a motherly look of concern.

"Please, mum?" Bryce pleaded. "I haven't been on a mission in a year,"

Pepper glanced down at the ground.

"If she comes home with a scratch, Tony, I will end you right where you stand," Pepper threatened.

"Sounds like a lot of trouble for a scratch. Bryce, I'll text you the coordinates. If you could fly here ASAP, that would be great,"

Before Pepper could protest any further, he hung up.

Bryce grinned, though Pepper looked worried.

"Be smart, Bryce. Don't get hurt," Pepper advised.

"I won't," Bryce promised, then hurried off to get her suit.
