I sat in the yard of Miyagi-Do watching Robby punch the punching bag. Each time he moved, his muscles in his biceps moved. "So can I come to sectionals?" Sam asked. We we're stretching side by side.

"What, uh sure." I said, collecting my cool.

"Sectionals?" Robby stopped punching the bag for a moment to look at me.

"Uh yeah, surfing sectionals are this week." I explained shrugging. I used my one hand to brush all of my wild red hair onto my one shoulder.

"You weren't going to tell me?" He pretended to sound hurt, or at least I think he was pretending.

"I knew you'd ask to come." I shrug, bending over my one leg, reaching for my foot.

"Hell yeah, I want to come." He went back to punching the bag.

"I won't stop you then." I laughed.

"Hey maybe we should take a video of us sparing and post it on Instagram." Robby suggested, his head obviously going back to our topic of the week, how to get more students.

"Everyone already saw us at valley fest, no one cared." Sam responded, taking on his grumpy attitude.

"You know what the problem is?" Robby asked us. He had his hair tucked behind his ears and one arm rested on the punching bag. I sighed very quietly. "Miyagi-Do karate is all about defense."

"Defense wins championships." Sam switched her legs.

"Yeah but people show up for the offense. That's why Cobra Kai's more popular." Robby look concerned and irritated at the same time. "We need to show them that we can fight to."

"What are we suppose to do, go to the mall, and, pick a fight?" Sam asked, not really meaning it. "Record us defending ourselves?"

"I'll be the video-recorder!" I exclaimed.

"Not the worst idea." Robby shrugged.

"That's a terrible idea." Sam said, resting her one elbow on her now propped up knee.

Robby went back to punching the bag in a deflated manor. I angled my body towards Sam. "You know that thing I wanted to talk to you about?" I said quietly.

"Yes, and I'm sorry but can you tell me later, I've just got a lot on my mind." She sighed.

Taken aback by her answer, I said, "Uh s-sure." I plaster on a fake smile.

We stretch for a few more minutes then Sam spoke again. "Wanna go see what my dad's doing?"

"Sure." I popped up off the ground, Sam slowly following. We reached the front to see Danial underneath the yellow car, fixing something.

"Hey dad." Sam said smiling. "Trying to get the banana boat up and running?"

"Trying." He replied enthusiastically. He rolled out form under the car.

"You wanna come around back? You could, teach us some karate?" She suggested hopefully.

"Did I ever tell you about my first job selling cars?" Mr. LaRusso asked. My phone started to vibrate in my pocket, I dug it out and looked at the caller ID. Nick.

"Can I take this?" I asked politely.

"Sure." He told me.

I nodded my head and walked off into the backyard, passing Robby and sitting by the koi pond. I swiped left, answering the call. "Hey."

"Hey, sorry we haven't talked more. It's been an actual disaster with all the packing." I could hear his smile on the other end of the phone.

"No it's fine. You'll be here for sectionals, right?" I asked curiously into the phone. I placed my one hand on the dirt beside me, leaning into it.

"Is that worry in your voice? Are you scared I'll come there and kick your ass?" He laughed. I could imagine the way the corner of his eyes would crinkle every time he smiled.

"Oh come on, we both know I could beat you in my sleep." I exaggerated.

"Just because you beat me last year does not mean your better than me!"  He exclaimed loudly into the phone. I let out a laugh.

"Doesn't it though?" I say, trying to compose myself.

"No." He sighed into the phone. "But yes, I'll be there." He answered. I didn't say anything. I could feel my smile slowly drop. "I really miss you." He said into the phone.

"Yeah, I miss you too." I replied softly. "See you soon?" I asked.

"For sure." He ended the call. I lowered my phone, looking at it in sadness.

"Who were you talking to?" Robby asked, sinking to the ground beside me.

"An old friend." I answered truthfully.

"Are you okay?" He asked. It was a bit awkward, being as we still hadn't talked about what happened a few days ago.

"Yeah. Look Robby, we really need to talk." I said turning my head towards him. His eyes were filled with despair, which in turn, only made me feel worse. "I'm sorry for lashing at you the other day. It's just-"

"You don't have to explain. If you need space, that's fine. I get it, I just wanted to make sure you were alright." He cut me off. His tone was kind and soft, making practically melt where I was sitting.

"I am sorry though." I said, hanging my head a bit, staring at my hands in my lap.

"It's all forgiven." Robby said, I could feel his eyes burn into the side of my head.

"Thanks." I leaning into him, resting my head on his shoulders.

"Of course, it's what friends do." He answered wrapping his arm around me. His words made me inertly sigh. "Do you want to go see Sam and Mr. LaRusso?"

"Why not?" I asked half-heartedly.

Again, kind of a filler chapter, but I liked it

Again, kind of a filler chapter, but I liked it. I bet you thought they were going to kiss, didn't you. If not, well then you seem to know me well enough to know that this is going to be a slow burn, that means, I'm in it for the long run. And I guess, so are you. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Thanks!
