I was laying on the LaRusso's couch, an ice pack on my neck. I held my book above my nose, reading the line, Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you'd like. It's only yours to break anyway. I sighed, placing the book down on my nose, making a winey noise. If only life and love were as simple as it was in the books I craved so much. The book had that wonderful paper scent that reminded me of medieval times. I pulled the book off my face and slid my phone in between the paper to hold my spot. I shifted myself upwards and set the book down on the couch. I swung my legs off the cushions and they met with the cold hardwood floor.
I slowly made my way into the kitchen. Stumbling here or there. "And you went right!" I heard a voice exclaim. Although I knew it was far away, it felt as though the voice was being yelled right in my ear. I rounded the corner, latching myself onto the wall and steadying myself.
"Exactly!" My eyes found Sam and Robby looking towards one another from opposite sides of the table.
"And I can't believe how high you got off that table." Robby responded. I heard loud banging noises approaching us. I looked up from my spot to see Danial walking towards us quickly. I tried to stand up straighter so he wouldn't notice that something was wrong, only to stumble again and have my hands land on the table with a loud thud.
"Oh my god, Lydia, why are you up?" Sam asked, her voice full of worry.
"I was bored." I mumbled, sliding down into a nearby chair and placing a hand to the side of my head in an attempt to stop the pain. "Do you guys have any pain meds? Or Advil?"
Before Sam could respond, her dad cut her off. "What happened? Mom told me. Are you okay?" He stood in front of us now, his arms extended out to his sides.
"Yeah, yeah dad we're okay." Sam responded.
"Just peachy." I put one thumbs up, he wasn't convinced.
"Your not okay." He told me pointing towards me.
"What happened?" He asked coming around to the table to inspect me.
"They were going to hurt Demetri. We had to do something. Are you mad at us?" Sam questioned her dad who was now gripping my neck and tilting my head side to side, looking for any damage.
"O-ow ow ow ow!" I cried when he tried to turn it.
"Sorry, sorry." He hastily took his hands off my neck and placed them on his hips.
"No, I'm not mad, I'm proud of you guys." He looked towards the tow teenagers sitting a bit of ways a away from me. "Although, I'm not happy you got hurt Lydia. What happened?"
"Eli kicked me in the back of the neck." I explained resting my head on my arms that were folded on the table.
"Are you going to be okay?"
"I'll be fine." I mumbled, though, I think some of it wasn't heard properly because of my arm covering my mouth.
"Okay, well none of you give me a heart attack again. Just because we train to fight doesn't mean I ever want to see you in a fight." He explained, chuckling again and squeezing Sam's arm. "And you two, I'm glad your part of this family." He slapped both Robby and I on the shoulder.
"Ow!" I squealed.
"Sorry!" He put his hands up in surrender.
"mhm." I mumbled.
I woke up to the smell of fire. My excruciating headache had finally gone down, so now everything sounded normal and quiet. I lifted my head up and looked around at me surroundings. I was still seated at the kitchen table, no one was around me.
I decided to walk towards the source of fire smell. I pushed myself out of the chair I had took residence in and made my was towards the fire, dragging my hand along the wall as I went. I turned a corner to immediately regret it. In front of me, I saw Sam's hands tangled in Robby's long hair and his hands on her face and neck. Their lips were molded together.
It was like something inside me snapped. My breathing started to get heavy and my fist clenched. They still hadn't noticed me so they were still tangled together. My hand left the wall and I started to walk towards the door. Apparently they had now heard my footsteps and they broke apart. "Lydia?" Sam asked from behind me.
I stopped walking suddenly and slowly turned around. "Did you?" she motioned towards her and Robby who was looking at me with a look I couldn't read.
"Yeah." I said coldly and harshly. She didn't pick up on it.
"Well, would you mind not saying anything to anyone?" She questioned me, a small smirk playing on her lips. I looked back to Robby before looking down at my clenched fist.
I uncurled my fingers to see four small crescent shaped cuts in my hands. Blood was started to seep out of my hand. I quickly tucked it behind my back. "Sure." I responded, nodding my hair. Turning around ready to leave the newly formed hell, I started to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Robby asked, causing me to stop. My heart felt like it was ripped out of my chest a second time that night. His voice held hurt, and regret. I didn't care, I just needed to get out of there.
"Home." I told him, not turning around.
"Are you well enough to drive?" He asked, I heard shuffling of him rising from the couch.
"I'll have to be." I said quietly before walking to my car with such desire to leave that I forgot my book and phone in the LaRusso home.
Yay! So my computer finally started to cooperate with me again! I really enjoyed writing this chapter, although that one part was a bit weird. Let me know what you think about in in the comments. Anyway, glad to begin writing again. Hope you enjoyed. Comment and Vote!
