"open up it's the fbi!" you jokingly screamed, banging on his apartment door.

you had been ringing his doorbell several times and were getting extremely impatient. he was taking too long to answer the door, so you decided to play that little prank on him. the weather was cold and rainy; your absolute favourite. you wanted to go to the book store today, and what fun would it be if you didn't drag your best friend along with you.

your little stunt was replied by a loud thud, followed by a muffled string of profanities as more chaos ensued in the house. you furrowed your eyebrows in both confusion and concern. what the hell is he doing?

for some reason, you pictured him trying to escape through the window but accidentally hitting his head on the windowsill in the process, bringing everything down with him as he fell back into the apartment. you chuckled at the thought and raised your hand again to knock, properly this time. however, the door flew open before your knuckles could reach the wooden surface, revealing a disoriented wonwoo, his hair disheveled and his eyes narrowed as he squinted at you.

ah, he was taking a nap. no wonder. you thought, slightly amused.

you squinted back, only to realise he was doing that because he wasn't wearing his glasses. you laughed, and his confused expression changed into one of annoyance as soon as he recognised your laughter. he turned around, rubbing the back of his neck as he grumbled a 'why are you here', still groggy from being woken up from his nap.

"well, good afternoon to you too, gramps," you greeted him sarcastically and went in the house.

you threw yourself onto his couch, making yourself comfortable and told him to quickly get ready to go to the bookstore together. he somehow already had his glasses on and went into the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of cold water and raising an eyebrow at you.

"you have attachment issues," he teased.

"and you have detachment issues," you retorted, making no sense and stuck your tongue out at him.

he chuckled, taking out an apple from the fridge and taking a huge bite out of it. he ran his hand through his hair as he chewed, trying to make it look more presentable. you kept making ugly pouty faces at him until he eventually gave in. mumbling an 'okay fine,' he put the apple down and told you to wait as he went into his room to change.

smiling in satisfaction, you turned your attention to the tv, mindlessly scrolling through the channels as nothing really caught your attention.

the two of you stepped into the bookstore, umbrellas soaked from the heavy rain. the crisp smell of paperback books welcomed you heartily and you smiled at the familiar scent. despite the cold weather outside, your heart warmed at the comfort it brought. it felt so much like home.

you quickly shook off the excess rainwater from your umbrella outside, putting it into an umbrella stand and greeted the shopkeeper at the cash register. the kind lady had been working there for years and she had watched you grow up buying books from her, but to you she didn't seem to age.

"good afternoon, mrs choi," you uttered as wonwoo waved at the shopkeeper.

she smiled and nodded as she packed a customer's set of books and gave it to them with their change. she told you that the book you had been wanting just came in and she had reserved one for you. you mentally jumped in joy and thanked her, grinning. walking deeper into the store, you began browsing through your favourite genre of books as wonwoo wandered through the literature aisle.

some time passed and you already had three books at hand, ready for checkout. wonwoo was still looking at somemore books when you told him you were done. he smiled down at you, and though it was something he always did, you couldn't help but feel flustered everytime. you returned his smile and he put down the book he was flipping through, deciding not to buy anything for the day.

you went and paid for your books, making small talk with mrs choi in the process. the woman wiggled her eyebrows at you, asking if you're ever going to tell your best friend how you really feel about him. your eyes widened and you felt the blush creeping onto the surface of your skin. you thanked heavens wonwoo was waiting outside.

"how... what? i- wait, you know?" you whispered to her, embarrassed.

"it's obvious, y/n," she replied smugly. then realisation settled in. you had been here several times with him since you were little. of course she knew.

"right," you mumbled, mentally face-palming.

you thanked mrs choi again for reserving a book for you and quickly kept your change in your wallet. picking up your umbrella from its stand, you stepped out into the pouring rain with your newly purchased items clutched closely to your chest. wonwoo looked up from his phone with expectant eyes and relaxed when he saw that you were already coming towards him. your heart fluttered again.

damn it, why is he so cute, you thought.

"wanna get something to eat?" he offered, putting his phone in his pocket.

"hell yeah," you told him and the two of you walked to the closest barbeque restaurant for some hot lunch.
