Have you ever felt lonely?

Of course you have.
It's horrid.

Loneliness is not a product of being alone though

Loneliness is a sensation of the bored
A fixation of introspection
A suspicion that you are not enough

It becomes a noise
Or even
An absence of a noise
A buzzing of constant silence

Cheeks sink
Eyes half shut
Fists loosen
Pain resides in the gut

This pain

It is not welcome and yet
It rejects the invitation to leave

This pain

It has nowhere to go
No one to be told to

How one could only know this feeling of alone
This pain
Is not an enemy

Instead it's a teacher

A teacher of self reliance
Of finding the person in you
That you once thought
Could only existed in someone else
