My name is Max, Max Stryker. Max is short for Maxine. I don't make friends easily, when I was younger my dad kicked me out. It's been 7 years, haven't seen him or my brother since, when I was kicked out I went to Los Angeles, California. That is where I met Samantha LaRusso. I had already known her dad Daniel, him and my dad used to be friends. The only thing my dad gave me when he kicked me out was money, I came from a rich family. He had given me 10k.
Now you're probably wondering why he kicked me out, well before that happened everything was good, I had a great life and a great family. My father taught my brother and I karate, the way Daniel LaRusso knows karate. The Miyagi way. The nicer way, the way I knew was right. Then my mom got sick, and there was no way to cure the sickness she had. Doctors didn't even know what she had, they had never seen it before. So then she passed. Before my father had learned the Miyagi way of karate, he was a Cobra Kai. After my mother had passed it hit him hard, he went back to the Cobra Kai ways, he had started learning again with John Kreese. That man was a monster. That man made my father something he was not, my brother and I had tried to tell my dad he needed to stop. He didn't listen to us, he listened to Kreese, so my father kicked me out, told me I was getting in the way of everything. He had also brought up my mom, saying she was the one who made him stop Cobra Kai in the first place and now I was just like her. I guess it didn't help because I was basically her replica. My golden blonde hair, that went down to my chest, my bright green eyes. My skin, was tan and smooth. People always say I have a nice body, mostly guys, perverts. I'm not super tall, 5'6, I am pretty skinny, but I do have some meat on my bones. That's me now. When my dad kicked me out I was 9 years old, I'm 16 now.
When I was kicked out I wasn't sure what to do, I mean I was 9 years old, there wasn't much I could do. I went to the airport, and bought a ticket to Los Angeles, people looked at me worried sometimes, I even had some people ask where my parents were. I just ignored those people and waited for my plane. During the flight I slept, then a flight attendant had woke me up and told me the plane had landed, I got off the plane, and got my suitcase. I may have been young but I was smart. So the first thing I did was going look for apartments, I also knew 10k probably wouldn't last long so I needed to find a job, being my age I knew that was going to be hard. It hadn't taken me long to find an apartment, there was a new apartment complex about a 40 minute walk from the airport. When I had gone into the center building where the receptionist person was, she looked at me weird, but she showed me an apartment.
The complex was one of those outdoor ones, like a motel or something. It looked nice, 2 floors, not many rooms, only 20. There was a pool next to the small receptionist house thing. She showed me apartment 4, one the bottom floor. It was in the back left corner. You walk in and there is a small kitchen to the right. Walk past the kitchen into the living room. There was a hallway to the right which had 3 doors, the door at the end of the small hallway had a washer and dryer stacked on each other. The door to the right had the bathroom and to the left a bedroom. In the living room there was a sliding glass door, that lead out to a small patio. I bought it, the receptionist lady gave me my keys and told me the pool was open 6am-10pm Monday-Friday and 7am-11pm Saturday and Sunday. I knew I needed to save money so I didn't buy much furniture, I bought a bed, dresser, couch for the living room. Then I bought stuff I really needed like, towels, shampoo and conditioner, pots, pans, and utensils for the kitchen, plates, bowls, silverware, dish soap, laundry soap, groceries, and a few other things. Then I knew I needed to start looking for jobs, so I started dog sitting, baby sitting, sometimes I even cleaned rich peoples houses and made food for them, which paid pretty good. I tried not socializing with many people, but sometimes I would bump into Samantha LaRusso, she was a great friend, we had gotten lunch together a couple times, catching up. She hadn't know my story, I told her I had been living with my grandparents. Then after a couple years her and I grew apart. We still talked sometimes but we didn't hang out as often.
One day I was taking my trash out and I saw this guy just sitting on the concrete, I was only looking at him from the side. I couldn't see his face because his hair covered the side of his face. I threw my trash in the dumpster and whet over to the boy. I had been 12 at the time.
"Hi I'm Max" I say standing in front of the boy. He lifted his head up our eyes meeting. I could tell he had been crying, his eyes were red, and his cheeks too. I held out my hand to him. He stood up and shook it.
"Nice to meet you Max, I'm Robby." He let go of my hand, I could tell he was about my age. He tucked his brown hair behind his ears, smiling softly.
"So Robby would you like to join me for dinner, I'm making spaghetti." His smile grew a little bigger.
"Sure, I'd love too" he answered. I led him to my apartment and while I made dinner, him and I talked. I trusted him and I could tell he trusted me too. We both talked about our pasts. Robby's dad bailed on him the day he was born, his mother was always out drinking and was almost never home, which was why he had been crying. After that day Robby and I were best friends, we had each others backs. We did a lot with and for each other. Robby had kept reminding me of someone but I could never put my finger on it. Then a couple years past and Robby started becoming distant, and I knew it was because of those delinquent "friends" of his. So after Robby and I had stopped hanging out, I felt alone.
