Thursday
Class starts in 30 minutes. I decided to check on the student's grades on the computer. Most of them are above average in my class...except for Sora.
Not only he's failing my class, he's also failing the rest of his classes. I viewed his grade book for the last semester.
First semester
English - D+
History - F
Ecology - C-
Algebra - D
It's the second semester and still no improvement. Does he not care about his future? I need to lecture him about this. These grades are unacceptable.
"Morning, teacher." Sora came to class early before anyone else. "Sora? You're finally on time?" He took his hood off.
"Of course. Didn't wanna miss anything." I guess this is a start of taming his bad behavior.
He put his bags down. "Sora, can you come here for a minute?"
"Yeah." He comes over. I pull up his grades on the computer. "I see you've been having trouble with your other classes..."
He shrugged. "It's fine, no big deal." Why is he taking this so casually?
"Sora, these grades can effect your future. Is there anything you're having trouble with?"
He looked down. "Ion know. School is just...hard." I sighed. "I see, perhaps you need some help." I turned my chair to him. "I'll be your tutor."
His eyes sparked up. "Tutor? For all my classes?" Little does he know, I used to volunteer in tutoring in college.
"Of course! If you need help for anything, we can set up a schedule after classes. How does that sound?"
"I...would like that," he agreed. Aside from his intolerable behavior, I can tell he wants to do better in school. He deserves this chance.
"I'm glad you're taking this seriously, Sora. I'll be sure to help you improve. We can start tomorrow."
