Draco's POV:

It's New Year's Eve and that dumb party that my mother throws every year is today. Couple of days ago my mother had someone come over to the house to get measurements for my tux and also for Swan's dress.

Speaking of Swan, she's been getting along with my mother. Actually I'm starting to get a little jealous because my mother spends more time with her than I do. But at the same time I'm happy that my mother really likes Swan.

I make it down the stairs and I can see my mother telling the people how to decorate the house. Knowing my mother who is a perfectionist, not a single detail can be out of place.

"Good morning Draco." My mother gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning mother. You seem to be in such a cheerful mood." I stand next to her as I see her helpers frantically running around to get the room fully decorated.

A smile appears on her face. "Of course I am. Today is the New Year's Eve party. Everything is going to be absolutely perfect."

"Whatever you say mother. Do you know where Swan is?" I ask her looking around the room.

"She might be at the garden. I saw her head to the back door this morning." My mother tells me before she starts yell at one of the helpers.

That was my cue to leave and head to the back door that leads to the garden.

I haven't been to the garden for awhile. Usually when I'm at home I just lock myself up in my room or go out with Blaise. But when I arrived, I couldn't help but look how alive and beautiful the plants  are .This is definitely Swan's style.

Walking through the garden to find Swan, I see her sitting on one of the branches high up on the tree. She was busy reading some type of black leather book. Which must be her mother's diary. Twirling the necklace around with her fingers that was still clasped around her neck.

I climb the tree and sit right beside her. Praying that this branch won't break with both of us on it. Swan closes her book and faces me. I wrap one of my arms around her and slide her closer to me.

"I see that your enjoying your time here at my garden." I tell her.

She rests her head on my shoulder. "This place is absolutely breathtaking ."

"You know I used to come here all the time and just walk around here." I tell her as I look around.

She continues to keep her head on my shoulder . "Really? This place looks like nobody has been here since forever."

Her comment makes me chuckle. "Yes, it seems that way. I remember this used to be my favorite place in the world. Blaise and I would play all the time here when we were young. My mother would always warn us not to ruin her flowers. It's just that when I was starting my teenage years I stopped visiting this place. My father started to get me into the Death Eater business. Teaching me about the Dark Arts and pleasing the Dark Lord." My face turns into a frown as I start remembering the past.

Swan grabs my hand and intertwine it with mine. She lightly squeezes it. "I know what you went through was not easy. It was horrible and I wouldn't know how that feels. But I just want you to remember that it's over. You can finally be yourself. To forget about the past and focus on the present."

I face Swan and caress her face. "Your my present and hopefully someday my future as well."

I watch as her cheeks turn bright red . Leaving her speechless. Knowing what I said had an affect on her.

Elizabeth's POV:

It was starting to get dark and the Malfoy's New Year's Eve party was about to start in a couple of hours.
