Elizabeth POV:
"Okay class. Have you gotten all your ingredients ready to make your amortentia?" Professor Slughorn asks the class.
"Yes, Professor." We all answer together.
"Wonderful. Go ahead and start to make your amortentia."
I open my potions book to the page where it instructs us to make the potion. Immediately, I start to cut, squeeze and put all the ingredients into the cauldron, Brewing it all together.
Turning my head slightly back, I watch as Malfoy and Blaise we're having a hard time making theirs. I couldn't help but giggle a little. The clueless expression was written all over their faces.
Might as well help these poor boys.
I turn around and watch what they're doing. "Okay first off all you need to slice up the first couple of ingredients, throw them into the cauldron and then mix it. Then throw the rest of them in after ten minutes. Lastly you let the potion brew for twenty more minutes."
"Oh thank gods for you, Elizabeth. I seriously didn't know what in the bloody hell I was doing." Blaise tells me with relief as he follows what I instructed to do and Malfoy does the same thing.
"Thanks, Swan. Maybe I should switch and have you as my partner." Malfoy says to me with a smile.
"Sorry Malfoy. Elizabeth is my partner and I definitely wouldn't trade her for anybody else." Luna turns around and tells him.
"Plus I already asked Elizabeth before. Even bribed her with food and she still rejected my offer." Blaise informs his best friend and pouts.
I nod my head out of confirmation what Blaise told Malfoy.
I quickly turned around back to my cauldron to check on my potion and saw that my amortentia was almost ready. It starts to turn into a pearl white consistency. Knowing that it's coming together and that I did my potion right.
Scents starts to fill nostrils as I inhale deeply from my cauldron. The scent of apples, expensive cologne, and some type of sea breeze hits me.
Realizing that what I'm smelling reminds me all of Malfoy. Apples are his favorite. Thinking of the first time we were in detention with each other as he gives me a green apple when I was starving. The expensive cologne that he wears everyday as it intoxicatingly fills up the room when he enters. Lastly the hint of sea breeze, reminding me about his spot at the lake. The place where he told me that he could be himself. Where he can forget about everything and just relax. The place that he shared with me and nobody knows.
Then I start to remember what I read in my potions book about amortentia.
"For each person, the smell is what they find most attracted in the person, even if they are not aware of who they are attracted to."
Does this mean I'm starting to have feelings for him? We're great friends and all. I do care for him and I'm really comfortable to be around him. To be honest, sometimes I feel more comfortable around him than my friends.
"Hey Elizabeth. What do you smell in your amortentia?" Blaise asks me.
I face Blaise and then at Malfoy. Seeing that they're both waiting for me to answer Blaise's question.
What do I say? Do I tell them what I smell? But it will be so obvious and Malfoy will know it's him. What do I do?
I start to panic.
"Hello? Swan? We're waiting." Malfoy says to me.
"Oh..right? My amortentia. It...it doesn't smell like anything. I-I think I did my potion wrong. Maybe brewed it a little too long." I lie to them both.
