I found my old phone.

On it was over 100 voicemails, however the last one was from you.

I know now that I should've just turned it off and tossed it back into the box I found it in.

But like a fool I listened to it.

You said you were having so much fun wherever you were, but it would've been so much better if I was there.

You were complaining about how cruddy your service was and that you were sorry for missing my earlier call.

You couldn't wait to see me in a few days time.

And before you hung up you softly said in the most sincere voice I've ever heard, "I love you."

Even after all these years, all the new relationships, and moving through different cities, I was suddenly listening to the sound of my youth. The sound of my home.

And oh how my heart shattered all over again.
