Tom tried not to whince when they apparated.
He and Aurora had a full half an hour arguement if he was fit to apparate. But he had to do it. No matter the pain. Because he knew where it was. So he couldnt stop.
They didnt stop to set up camp or even rest, Tom insisted they kept walking.
It was dangerous apparating in forests as certain places where powerful magical creatures tampered with the air surrounding the forests causing apparitions to be extra dangerous so they had to be careful not to be splinched.
It wasnt even light yet, such early hours of the morning even the sun was still sleeping peacefully below the horizon. They trudged mindlessly through the forest.
With each step it seemed to get denser and denser, thicker and thicker till Tom had to start slicing down trees with a long knife he had conjured.
There hadnt been any attacks but that didnt help Auroras nerves, every single time a bird tweeted medoliously or a twig snapped under their feet she'd stop and pull out her wand shooting hexes that left black burn marks on the barks of the surrounding trees.
A rabbit scampered out infront of Aurora, disappearing as fast as it appeared.
Aurora jumped back with a yelp her wand firing hexes before she even blinked.
Tom hissed jumping forward as a hex caught his heel. He turned round glaring at her fiercely as she tried to regain her breath and skim down her heaving chest.
"Will you stop that?" He hissed at her slanting his eyes dangerously. "Well soorrrrryy I've just been a little jumpy ever since i saw you be mauled by siren" she spat back.
"I'm the one who was mauled by a siren and you dont see me acting like that" he snapped.
"Because you where fucking unconscious!" Aurora argued raising her voice.
They both jumped when a loud crack echoed through the air and it was not from either of their shoes.
Their heads snapped towards the direction it came from, both so silent even their breathes drew quiet.
Aurora was about to step forward, the thought that Tom was still injured itching at the back of her mind as she tried to edge forward protectively.
Tom caught her arm his grip quite tight as he stopped her from moving. "What do you think you are doing?" He sneered pulling her behind him quickly.
"What did I fracture your masculinity" she asked batting her eyelids but her voice was dripping with sarcasm.
"Shush" he snapped his eyes glued to whatever as infront of them that had made a ruckus.
Auroras jaw dropped "dont tell me to shush you bitter wankstai-" she was cut off by another loud snap coming from that direction.
Her eyes widened clicking onto where the sound came from her arms wrapped around Tom's distinctively.
"Fucking hell..." she muttered both of the their wands where stuck out at the bush, her heart was in her throat and she was almost certain Tom's was aswell judging by the way he was trying to push her further behind him.
They waited.
The air feeling denser, the silence made it loud and heavy. Their heartbeat was like the ticking of a time bomb. Till it exploded.
A hag leaped out from the brushes it's high pitch shriek burning their ears its long claw like hands reaching out at them.
Before it could even touch them both shot bright green deadly spells at it and it dropped dead.
