hey guys :) so this chapter will be focusing a little more on Kataang. i love them and just feel like they need to be included some more (It's still full of zukka though, don't worry.)

============================

The nurse's office was a slightly cold and beigely depressing place.

Walls: beige. Ceiling: beige. Furniture: beige. Carpet? You guessed it: beige. Aang sat bare chested on the beige table, carefully holding ice to his bruised ribs.

He sat lost in thought until Katara quietly slipped in and clos ed the door.

"Hey," Her gaze was soft and concerned, "How are you doing?"

Aang gave a muted laugh and grinned at her, "Not too bad, considering what could have happened."

Katara sat down next to him, taking the ice and readjusting it slightly, her hands gentle and warm. Aang winced slightly and she looked up at him. "You sure you're ok? I'm so sorry that happened. But Aang, the thing I'm wondering is why. Why would you even put yourself in that position? What prompted you to confront him?"

Aang shifted slightly and was silent for a moment. He couldn't tell her the real reason, that would be betraying Sokka's trust, and their friendship.

No, Aang thought. Katara would not be hearing that from him. "I- I can't tell you, Katara. Well, at least not the whole thing. But Jet was being... Jet. He just- He wants you back, Katara. But we're not letting that happen, right?"

Katara's eyes narrowed, "I knew there was something off with him. I mean, more than usual. But you're absolutely right. We are not letting that happen. I love you too much." She tilted her head up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.

A faint blush crept up Aang's cheeks, "Love you too."

But Katara looked at him now with her lightsaber blue eyes. "Aang," she almost whispered, "What else is there that you can't tell me? I mean, obviously I know you can't tell me, but-"

The look in Aang's silver-brown eyes made her stop. He looked so torn, wanting to tell her so badly (Aang hated secrets), but too loyal to betray whatever he was hiding.

Katara sighed and lightly brushed her fingers over Aang's collarbone, "It's fine, I know you'll tell me when you can. I trust you."

They shared a warm smile and Katara leaned her head on Aang's shoulder.

Then they heard the nurse shouting outside.

Katara tilted her head, listening. And then she caught the faint sound of her brother's laughter. She ran out to the small porch and stopped abruptly.

Sokka had all his weight off of one foot and was hopping across the lawn with his arm around Zuko's shoulders. The nurse was standing on the steps yelling at them in indignation. The boys crossed the green, but it was slow going because they were both laughing too hard to walk at a normal speed.

Aang had now joined Katara and was watching the pair with an odd expression on his face; a look somewhere between a smile and a smirk.

Katara noticed and studied the look for a moment before turning her attention back to her limping brother.

When the two finally reached the porch, Sokka leaned up against the railing while Zuko stood next to him, not touching, just close. The nurse took a breath, "Boys. Why is Mr. Watertrybe injured?!"

Katara stifled a giggle, it was too weird to hear her idiot sibling called "Mr. Watertrybe".

Sokka wiped tears of laughter from his eyes and donned a serious expression, "I'm so sorry. I was in the archery range, with the rubber arrows-" He mumbled this last part, "Cause this camp doesn't have any real ones, of course."

Aang nodded sarcastically and rolled his eyes behind the nurses back. Of course he mouthed to Katara.

"And then my friend-" Sokka gestured to Zuko, "Startled me and I lost control of the arrow and somehow it ended up hitting my foot."

Zuko snorted, "Oh please. I'd been standing there in plain sight for like, 5 minutes. You were just being a klutz."

Sokka gasped in mock offense, "I am not a klutz!"

Zuko rolled his eyes, crossed his arms, and smirked, "You so are."

Sokka just grinned and slung his arm back around Zuko's shoulders, "Am not. Anyway-" He looked back at the nurse, "I don't think anything is broken. Probably just a bad bruise."

Katara stepped forward, brushing past the astonished and slightly bewildered nurse, and cast a puzzled look at Zuko before saying, "Sokka, let me see it."

She knelt and pulled off Sokka's mint green high top and gray sock. "Yeah, I think you've got a deep bruise and maybe even a contusion. Ice, rest, and you'll be fine."

She stood up, threw Sokka's shoe back at him and crossed back to where Aang stood watching the nurse with amusement as the older lady gaped in surprise at Katara.

Sokka grinned, "Cool, nothing broken, that's a plus. Thanks Katara. Anyone got any ice?"

The nurse stepped forward abruptly, determined to not let Katara take over her job, "The back room, in the freezer. Follow me." And she stalked past the brown haired girl and back into the building.

Sokka jammed his sock back on and handed his shoe to Zuko like a trophy, "Shall we?"

Zuko accepted the fabulous award with one hand and wrapped his other arm around Sokka's waist, "Come on drama queen, let's go."

And they disappeared into the office, leaving Katara slightly confused, slightly suspicious, and full of questions for Aang.
