I feel a strong gust of wind and tighten my hold on Vie's hand. I feel her squeeze tighter and know to hold my breath.
I feel us floating and almost start to enjoy the feeling, until I remember what exactly the floating means and I'm almost gripped with panic. I'd hate to be lost in time, forever.
Thankfully I feel us touch the ground and oxygen refills the space, allowing me to take a breath and open my eyes.
I'm glad to see buildings and people walking the streets. I look at Vie who's looking around the alley we landed in with distaste, I can't blame her.
Pulling her hand I lead her to the street, and we start walking in no certain direction.
"Where do you think we should go?"
She shrugs her shoulders.
"We should find shelter first."
I nod and we head to the nearest hotel.
"Should we worry about price this time?"
She shrugs again, then grins.
"No, we shouldn't."
I smile and we laugh, deciding on getting the best suite we can find.
Once we've booked the nicest suite this hotel has to offer, we make our way up to the room. Opening the door I see the stark contrast between where we were hundreds of years ago, to this time.
It's always strange going from one point in time to another, the differences are sometimes too much for us and it takes a few days to adjust. We usually don't leave for a few days while Vie puts up her protections.
I still have no clue how she does it but I'm always thankful for the safety she makes me feel.
I put the bags down and find the largest room in the suite. I call Vie, then throw my body onto the soft bed. She walks in and looks at me, come here I say with my eyes.
"Mae, we just got here."
I shrug and smile flirtatiously.
"We gotta break the bed in."
She smiles and shakes her head, joining me nevertheless.
When we're done in bed I take extra time to notice the changes in her appearance, she's always gorgeous to me no matter what form she takes.
Her eyes are still brown but slightly more almond-like, her hair is still dark yet is glossier than before. Her face is slimmer now but her smile still warms me from inside out.
I love the fact she can look however she wishes, and that she never has to choose because she isn't from one place, she's from everywhere all at once.
I wonder how it feels to be that connected to everything, I'll never know, but Vie never ceases to amaze me.
"What are you thinking about?"
I grin because I know she'll find my answer cheesy.
"You."
She blushes and covers herself with the thick blanket from the bed. I laugh uncovering her face and she pouts slightly.
"Stop, you know how compliments make me."
"They make me the same way but you never stop, so neither will I."
She rolls her eyes.
"I'll compliment you for eternity and you'll have to deal with it."
I laugh and give her a kiss.
"So will you."
I get out of bed and head for the bathroom, it'll be nice to finally have a good shower. It's one part of traveling that I can't stand for certain time periods, so I'm glad I actually got the option of picking one where almost everyone can.
