CHAPTER ONE

Sita wandered around the streets of Mag, looking at the shops to get ingredients for the cake she was going to be baking. Her sister Mai said she was gonna ask her commanding officer to let her have a day off so she can see her sister, but Sita doubted that she would be able to since, as she heard from her sister, her commander is a tough nut to crack. Once he makes a decision, he keeps that decision.

She looked at the city timer for the daily gravity change, it was in a few minutes so she had to hurry and get to a safe place with a gravity manipulator before she flew into the sky with all the forgotten things people accidentally left outside.

She walked into a shop and thankfully it was still open.

“May I stay here for the time being?” Sita asked as she walked to the old lady at the front desk. “It's almost time for the gravity change and I am too far from home to reach my house in time.” The lady looked at her with a kind smile.

“Of course you can child.” The old woman said as she went into the back to fetch a chair.

Sita smiled at her, “Thank you so much, I really appreciate it Ms. Braden”

“No, not at all. It's my pleasure.” She said with a soft chuckle as she set the chair down for Sita.

“Hey, Ms. Braden?” She asks as she sat down.

        “Yes child?”

“Do you ever wonder where all the men go?”

Mag was a planet where outsiders constantly try to get in, not to appreciate the scenery but to take what isn't theirs. Kidnap people for ransom, steal from the citizens, or just kill Innocents. So Sita thought that all the men go to the army, but she was starting to have second thoughts ever since her father disappeared.

        “–they go.”

“I'm sorry what was that you said?” Sita asked.

“Oh, Sita.” She sighed. “Ever since Mai got into the security force you've been in you're own little world.” Ms. Braden looked up at her. “I don't specifically know where the men go, but what I do know is that they are helping, and that is what matters.” A soft smile placed across Sita's face.

        “Okay..."

Ms. Braden looked outside her shop window, and a grin placed itself on her lips. “Alright, enough gloom and glum. I won't have it in my shop!” She whirled around to face Sita.

Sita was startled by this sudden burst of energy in Ms. Braden. “P-Pardon?”

“Smile child because it's a wonderful day, Look!” She pointed outside.

The gravity change was happening, and all of the stuff people left outside went falling into the air.

“I don't exactly see why that is wonderful I mean, what if somebody wanted to keep those things?”

“Don't focus on the sky, focus on the ground!” Ms. Braden grabbed Sita's chin and turned it to face the streets. “Do you see?”

Sita's brown eyes widened blurred with tears.

        “Mai!”
