I wake up on the floor and then wake up back in my bed. I look around and then realize that Jake isn't here. I jump up.
I look deeper in the cave but he isn't there. I run out but hesitate to leave.
"Jake!" I yell and look around. I hear heavy breathing and stop. What is that noise? I lean my ear close to the cave wall and hear the breathing more clear. Someone is at the other side? Did Jake escape?
I slowly walk to the exit of the cave and the quickly run out. I hear a swipe and turn around quickly. There stands Cassidy with Jake in her arms. She has one arm wrapped around his throat and the other arm holding his arms back.
"Cassidy?" I say and she stares at me. How did she find us?
"Miranda, I'm glad you're up." Cassidy says. She doesn't seem as sad as I thought she would be when she finds out Jake knows about the werewolves. Does she want me awake to see Jake die? My heart stings a little as I think about that. I close my eyes and swallow hard.
"Cassidy look, let me explain-"
"He has a lot to explain!" Cassidy interrupts. I open my eyes. "I think this guy has been spying on you. But he won't talk."
Wait? Spying?
"Spying?" I ask. Cassidy nods and Jake struggles to escape but Cassidy is too strong. Jake isn't spying though. But Cassidy doesn't know that. Which means, she doesn't know!
"Can you believe him? Why we he spying on you? He might..." She trails off. I don't want to lie to my best friend though.
"Cassidy I-"
"I know. There's only one thing to do." She interrupts and looks at a rock. Cassidy pulls Jake to the rock and my eyes widen. I can't let her kill Jake!
"Cassidy wait!" I stop her. Cassidy looks at me.
"Let him go." I mutter. Cassidy looks confused.
"What?" She asks. "He could be our dinner once we're done." Cassidy pauses. "Oh, another reason why I must end him now."
Jake stares at me and I stare at his eyes. He doesn't seem to be very worried. I can see something in his eyes...trust. I swallow hard. I have to do this. I can't allow Cassidy to kill Jake. I put my hand out to touch Cassidy's shoulder but don't touch her.
"You can't kill him. Jake already knows everything." I confess and pull my hand back. Then, Cassidy has a worried look on her face. She also looks confused.
"What do you mean he knows everything?" Cassidy asks. "And how do you know his name?"
Here it goes.
"He knows that I'm a werewolf." I explain and she frowns, her eyes big, round, and worried. She probably has the same feelings I first felt mentioning werewolves to a human.
Then, I feel a little worried. Her face goes pale, but blank. She spaces off to space and just stays in the same position. Then, she looks mad.
My eyes widen. I run to her and she's about to hit Jake's head against the rock but he pulls back and I push her so she let's go of Jake. Jake jumps up and I immediately try to help her up.
"Don't touch me you trader!" Cassidy yells and flinches away from me.
"No Cassidy it isn't like that!" I try to explain. "I didn't tell him he found out."
Cassidy scoffs. "Sure. And how do you suppose he found out our meeting spot and everything?" Cassidy says.
"She didn't tell me." Jake pipes in. "It's true, I found out on my own."
