I'm not stupid.
This is what I have to keep reminding myself everytime I get near the necklace.
Like an ember of a fire, it glowed fiercely. The green hues embedded in it seemed to have a life of its own, dancing over the pendent that enclosed it. Radiating from the necklace was some kind of aura that was enchanting and equally as entrancing. The only thing I could compare it to was magic.
The feeling of magic was like sparks of electricity at my fingertips, but this, this was at a level I couldn't fathom. This didn't just feel like a simple spark, it felt like an entire forest fire.
It was calling to me from the moment I saw it. I'm no jewelry thief, but something inside of me craved the sight of it, longed to put it back on and feel whole again. But the last time something called out to me, Shin's eyepatch, I bore witness to one of the most gruesome events I've ever seen. The evil smirk on the Vibora leaders face, the moment of fear on Shin's face before the blade went in, and the sense of duty on Carla's face, knowing that there was no other way. I shudder at the memory before glancing back at the necklace.
I'm not stupid, I'm not going to put it on.
I spared another glance at the jade necklace. The green seemed to glow, despite it being daytime. But to me it was brighter than the Sun or any other celestial object that resided in the sky.
I took a step towards the vanity. It couldn't hurt if there was no one around... right? It didn't happen if there wasn't a witness.
I took another step, at this point every cell in my body screamed at me to put it in. No part of me was able to refuse, I just had to.
I snatched the jewelry off the wooden surface and clasped it around my neck, the cool pendant resting against my skin. I let out a sigh of relief, as if the piece filled a void within me.
I looked around, everything was normal. It wasn't going to do anything, it was just a piece of jewelry that drew people to it... maybe. That feeling lasted for about a second, and then that's when my vision began to go fuzzy, the objects in the room looked like blobs of color. A flash of light blinded me, and when I regained my vision, I was in the room where I found the jewelry.
