𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄 : 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐆𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐒

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Life was gray on the days that it was raining.

The soft peppering on my skin gave me a feeling of tranquility, a sense of calmness that I would seldom experience. The rain was a secret that only some got to experience. Sure everybody groaned and complained about the somber and melancholy drips and drops, but it is only the lonely that get to experience the true beauty of the rain.

The silence of your classmates wherever you passed by. The silence of your mother watching her rise day in, day out with the permanent dark under eye circles. The silence towards yourself, fearing that your own thoughts will break the dam holding back all of your ghosts.

All those moments come out when I vent to the rain without saying a word, and the rain doesn't say a word back.

When I awoke, everything was gray, reminding me of those rainy days. It wasn't just the color; it was the loneliness as well.

Stone cold gray lining the floors and bars that caged me in. Rusty old shackles kept me bound to a frigid wall that probably hasn't had any warmth in years. Even the air felt like something antique, used and forgotten.

I sat up and stretched my arms. "Well this is a nice change of scenery."

"It's a prison cell."

I rolled my eyes, "I was being sarcastic."

Watching me with intense golden eyes was Carla.

Those same eyes locked onto me when he used me as a hostage against Kino. It isn't any wonder that those same eyes have the same loneliness that is laced throughout this place.

I wasn't particularly mad at him, if anything, I am a bit thankful that he accepted my being instead of Yui's. They wanted her, of course they wanted her, the perfect, docile girl that had a heart of gold. She had those big eyes that you could fall in love with at first sight. Her words were light and feathery, and no words that came out of her mouth had the power to make people hate her. She had the perfect skin, no remnant of scars, and her very presence brought peace to the people around her

Why would they want the girl with sharp eyes and a sharp tongue?

I shivered in the emptiness of the monotone cell. It hurts being second place.

Carla sighed and came closer to the cell bars. "You are a founder's woman. You belong to us."

Oh that. I remember him saying something like that when my mind was going a thousand miles an hour back at the mansion. I hadn't taken into consideration how foreign the word founder was to me.
