"Ayato-kun let me go!" I yelled, flailing my arms and legs.

Earlier Ayato had come into my room and said nothing, picked me up bridal style and here we are.

"You shouldn't be doing this! I have stuff to do, unlike you I actually do my homework." I reprimanded him.

I had tried everything from flailing my arms and legs, trying to fall out of his arms, punching his chest and anything else I could think of, but he held me tight. I sighed and stopped trying, he won't give up or answer me so I went limp in his arms.

He carried me through a woody area and he stopped in front of a large lake. I looked up at Ayato to see his expression, a smirk growing on his face. My eyes widened, what is he up to?

Without a warning he threw me into the lake.

What?!

My back hit the water first, ice cold water seeping into my clothes and eventually surrounding me as I sank into the water. I gasped, bubbles flowing out of my mouth. I kicked my legs, propelling me upward and breaking through the surface of the water.

I gasped for air all while glaring at Ayato. He looked surprised when I rose up out of the water.

"What made you throw me into the water? Idiot."

"You can swim?" Ayato asked, surprised.

I scoffed, "of course I can, I learned how to when I was little."

He took off his blazer, put it on the ground and jumped into the water with me splashing it everywhere. I wiped my eyes to find the red head but I couldn't see him anywhere.

"Wh-"

Something grabbed my ankle and pulled me underwater. I screamed but it was silent underwater. I tried to pull my leg free but whatever was holding on had a firm grip. I began to feel lightheaded, I needed air now. I was tempted to breathe in but I suppressed the urge. Spots danced in my vision and I stopped fighting completely.

The thing that was holding my ankle loosened its grip and eventually let go completely. Suddenly I felt arms wrap around me and a blurry face with strawberry red hair leaning in close to mine. Ayato. His mouth pressed against mine, giving me air and preventing me from blacking out. A couple seconds later we broke through the surface of the water, I began to cough and tried to inhale. I looked up at Ayato and removed his arms from around me. I backed up and tread water on my own.

"Again, why on Earth would you do that." I resisted the urge to yell at him or punch him, I held back the rage inside me.

He looked down and whispered, "Because the same was done to me...."

My eyes widened and the pent up anger slowly died down. "Who?" I asked softly.

"My mother.... I was raised to be the better one, I had to surpass Shu. My mother, Cordelia, wanted nothing more than me to rise to the top and prove to Karlheinz that she was the best, yet she had an affair with our uncle Ritcher. Both my brothers would receive a twisted love and be able to do whatever they wanted to. I'd have to go inside and study, I finally left that life once that woman died and Richter left." He shook his head, "Cordelia said that bad boys get thrown into the lake and that's exactly what happened to me."

I shivered, "I'm sorry, I didn't know...."

"Let's go inside before you catch a cold."

I hauled myself out of the water and once my skin made contact with the cool air, I couldn't help but shudder. The lake water was really cold and the weather wasn't helping much. Ayato joined me and placed his blazer over my shoulders, I held it close to my body grateful for the warmth it provided. I looked at Ayato with a puzzled look on my face, it wasn't everyday he was nice to me.

"It'll be an issue if you fall sick, so don't go around thinking you'll get anymore favors from Ore-sama." He grumbled.

I couldn't help but giggle at his comment.

I got out of the warm shower with a fuzzy pair of pajamas and wet hair dripping water on the floor. I sat on my bed still processing what Ayato had told me earlier this afternoon. I had no clue that his life was that hard when he was a kid, I wonder how was life for all the other brothers.

"Sayaka and Yui, please come to the living room at once." I heard Reiji's voice call.

What could he possibly want?

Once everyone was present, he cleared his throat. "Seems like we have received an invitation to attend a ball. That means Sayaka and Yui will be coming too, it's tomorrow so make sure all of you dress appropriately."

"Tch, I don't want to go to some useless ball." Said a grumpy Subaru.

I raised an eyebrow, did he just wake up?

"You have no choice in the matter, he has asked us to come, so you have to." Reiji responded.

I turned to Yui, "are you excited?"

She nodded, I smiled. I couldn't wait, it was bound to be interesting.
