-Saturday, 8:35 a.m.-
Virgil stood at the counter, aimlessly stirring his coffee while staring off into space. Patton and Logan were curled up on the couch nearby, talking about an astronomy book Logan had been reading. Janus was cleaning dishes at the kitchen sink, and Remus was (most likely) still asleep.
Saturdays were often like this: peaceful, quiet, and generally the opposite of the rest of the week. The sides had all mutually agreed that Saturdays were truce days. It was the one day of the week that everyone looked forward to.
They all got to relax and unwind.
Except for one person.
"Pardon, but does anybody know of Roman's whereabouts?" Logan asked abruptly from the couch. "As I recall, he did not come down for breakfast."
Janus shrugged. "Haven't seen him yet."
Right on cue, Roman appeared at the far end of the Commons. He looked like a sleep-deprived mess. He was still wearing his pajamas, and his hair was tousled.
"Good morning Roman!" Patton chirped, smiling good-naturedly and waving. The only indication that Roman heard him was a halfhearted jerk of his head. He began to stumble blearily towards the kitchen.
Virgil didn't even notice Roman's appearance until Roman half collapsed against his back, loosely wrapping his arms around his waist. The sudden physical contact made Virgil flinch. He relaxed a little once he saw that the person who was hugging him was not, in fact, Remus (who had a tendency to get overly... friendly). Janus glanced at them as if sensing Virgil's thoughts, then rolled his eyes and turned back to the dishes.
"G'morning Emo," Roman mumbled.
"Looks like someone managed to pull off his third all-nighter this week. Impressive, Princey," Virgil said, barely hiding a grin. Usually HE was the one who pulled all-nighters. Roman just grumbled into Virgil's shirt, barely registering what he was being told.
"Seriously Roman, you shouldn't stay up late trying to brainstorm new content ideas. I can't believe you still have the energy to form coherent sentences," he added.
"Don't you lecture me about my (yawn) sleep schedule," Roman mumbled, pulling away and leaning against the counter. "I have to give Thomas (yawn) SOME kind of idea for a new video."
"Whatever you say Princey."
Roman yawned again, then peered at the cup in Virgil's hands. Virgil, noticing that Roman was hungrily eyeing his coffee, sighed.
"Just take it," he said as he handed Roman the drink. Without hesitation, Roman gratefully accepted the warm porcelain cup.
"Don't choke yourself trying to chug it," Virgil added, raising an eyebrow.
Roman took a large sip of the hot liquid and sighed contentedly. He seemed to relax for just a moment.
"Thanks stormcloud," Roman said. He gave Virgil a quick peck on the cheek before wandering over to the large kitchen table, coffee in one hand and his phone in the other. Virgil rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone as well.
"Better make another cup before you turn into Roman," Janus called to Virgil over the clink of plates and silverware. "Your definitely not going to need it when your own three-ish month's worth of sleep deprivation kick in."
