George woke on the couch. Clay was sitting beside him, with his hand on George's cheek, and Nick was pacing back and forth in the kitchen, clearly stressed. George sat up, he felt numb, but he started crying instantly when the situation flowed back into his head.
"George," Clay took him into his arms., "we're going to figure this out, okay?"
George nodded and buried his head into Clay's chest. Nick was still pacing, trying to think of ways to get out of this messy situation because right now it seemed there was none. All three of them had no idea what to do, and George felt ashamed that he was the one that had brought this problem into his best friends' lives.
Nick walked over to the other two slowly, and perched on the edge of the couch with his face in his hands, "George, surely he won't find you. How can he? We're like an hour away and, how will he know where you're staying?" Nick tried to make him feel better, but George knew just how insane his step dad was. He too didn't know how he would find him, but he knew that he was probably capable of doing so.
"I don't know," George's quiet voice trailed off as Clay pulled him in closer, until they were melting into each other.
Clay rubbed George's back in comfort as he heard the pure fear and pain in his voice- it was so hard for Clay to hear. The three stayed silent for a while. Nick was thinking of possible solutions, while Clay helped George calm down.
Nick finally spoke up, and made eye contact with George. He had known George for so long, and was now wishing he had done something to help him earlier on in their friendship.
"George, I-I think the best thing we can do is just see what happens. He's probably just trying to scare you to make you go back home," he paused when he watched a single tear roll down the brunette's tired face, "I mean, there's no way he could find you. He doesn't know where to look? He knows nothing about Clay and I."
George suddenly thought about what his step dad would do to him if he found out about him and Clay. Even if George was with a girl he would be in trouble- but with a guy it was a whole different story. What if he hurt Clay?
George nodded in agreement, but knew that he would be spending days, weeks, months living in fear of his step dad. He wanted to run away, with Clay and Nick of course, to a different country. Where he knew that they were far away from his monster of a step dad.
Clay lowered his head to kiss a tear that was trickling down George's cheek. It made George feel warm inside. He then brushed his fingers up and down George's arm, tickling him gently. George couldn't help but laugh a little- and it made Clay feel so much better, seeing him smile.
The morning was strange, the three didn't talk much. Although, George stayed in Clay's arms, only letting go when Clay got up to get a snack. Nick was on his phone all day, texting his girlfriend. They lounged around lazily until around four in the evening, when they decided to order pizza for an early dinner.
"What do you guys want?" Clay asked, looking specifically at George, who still looked so upset.
"I'll just have a medium pepperoni please dude," Nick replied, and playfully nudged George's shoulder, "what about you?"
George looked up to meet Clay's eyes, "oh, I don't want anything, thanks though."
"Come on, George, you haven't eaten anything all day," Clay said, walking closer to his boyfriend and starting to dial the number of the pizza place into his phone.
George shook his head and stared at the floor. He had completely lost his appetite, it's like the fear of his step dad and constant anxiety was taking over his body and it didn't have time to eat.
