"Hello?" said Y/n as she answered the phone call. "Clay?"

"Hey, N/n, happy Valentine's Day," he greeted quickly, "Sorry, I know you've got a date in a few minutes, so I'll be quick with it."

Y/n was about to interrupt him to let him know her plans had fallen through, but she had no time to do so before he continued.

"I just wanted to know if you're still free to record the next Manhunt tomorrow."

Y/n nodded to herself slightly. "Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm still free." Her voice was lower than usual, and Clay had to listen carefully to hear her words clearly.

"Okay, awesome. Have a great date, then," he said, trying his best to hide his sarcastic tone in the last part. "And don't hesitate to call me if he turns out to be a total dick. I'll pick you up in no time."

Clay wasn't exactly fond of the idea of his friend going on a date with someone she had never met before. It was all very sketchy to him, even though he had been told that her date was a good guy. It still didn't sit right with him.

Y/n forced a chuckle. "Yeah, thanks...but, uh, I'm not going on that date anymore."

"What? Why not?" questioned Clay, a bit surprised.

Y/n cringed, embarrassed by the reason. "He kinda blew me off," she told him.

"He...blew you off?" questioned Clay, dumbfounded.

"Yeah." He could hear the disappointment in her voice.

Clay scoffed. "Then he's just an idiot. As in a really fucking stupid idiot."

Y/n chuckled lightly, but shrugged her shoulders. "Either way, I only agreed to go out with him so that I wouldn't have be alone on Valentine's Day. So I wasn't that keen on going on the date anyway," she said. "Still sucks though."

"Yeah, I get that," said Clay sympathetically. The call was silent for a few moments.

"But yeah, I'm ready for tomorrow's Manhunt," said Y/n, the girl being the first one to speak up. "I've got some pretty awesome plays up my sleeve. Prepare yourself to lose."

Clay smiled as he heard the smirk in her voice. "Oh, yeah? I'd like to see you try to beat me. I'm invincible," he boasted.

"Mhm, you just keep believing that, greenie," she answered, not sounding the slightest bit convinced by his claim.

Clay chuckled lowly, and then silence took over the call once more. "I guess I should get on with my very busy day of sitting around," joked Y/n, mumbling a low "maybe I'll even buy myself some heart chocolates."

Clay frowned at this, but Y/n let out a humorous huff at her own situation. "We'll talk tomorrow, then?" she asked when he didn't say anything.

Clay didn't answer, but got caught in his own thoughts. Y/n frowned at his silence. "Hello? You still there?"

"Oh—uh, yeah," answered Clay finally.
