Patrick Walters. Average height, decent looking, hilarious, a geek. How did he end up in my life you ask? Then this is the chapter for you. Patrick Walters had come up to my table with Hudson sitting across from me. Turns out, Hudson and Patrick knew each other because they went to high school together. Just like me, Patrick was also an orchestra dork. Let's just say that our first meeting together was quite interesting to say the least.
"Hey, may I sit here?" Patrick asked.
"Sure." I replied back.
"Oh! Patrick, I didn't know that you went to LVCC." Hudson commented.
"Yeah, I do." Patrick said back, but he quickly looked at me.
"So um, how do you guys know each other?" I asked.
"We graduated high school together." Hudson mentioned.
"Ah, I see." I replied back with a smile.
"So Taylor, what are your hobbies?" Patrick asked.
"I am a musician. I listen to movie soundtracks on a daily basis and I read quite a lot. Mainly historical fiction, but I don't mind a good rom com if the plot is well played out." I said, looking at him.
"Musician? Would you be interested in listening to Paramore?" Patrick asked back.
"Paramore? I listened to them as a kid but never knew there were any other albums." I said, putting my finger on my lip.
"Well, I can tell you that I am a huge fan of them. I would highly recommend listening to the RIOT! Album and All We Know Is Falling." Patrick said with a grin.
"I will give it a shot." I said with a slight laugh.
"She doesn't want to expand her musical library." Hudson pointed out.
"Well, I don't want to be tested on metal music." I snapped back.
"Okay, well let me know how you like the albums." Patrick said with a smile, trying not to get in the middle of Hudson and I's conflict.
At this point, Hudson and I were sort of at odds. I never understood him and probably won't for a while. But this Patrick guy seemed nice. I just had to get to know him better now that we just met. Truth is, I don't know if I can trust anyone at this rate. This past year was harder than ever. From getting rejected to losing my closest friend, I didn't know who to turn to.
"I gotta run." Hudson said.
"Okay. Bye." I waved to him.
"Is he your boyfriend?" Patrick asked.
"No. I got rejected by him." I said softly.
"Oh, I am so sorry. Look, if it makes you feel better, I dated a couple of girls in high school and they were crazy." Patrick said, reaching for my hand.
I looked at him as he grabbed my hand and I just knew he was different. I wanted to know his hobbies, more about his love of Paramore, his story. Over the next couple of weeks, we began talking more about each other's life. He told me he is a history major and wanted to transfer to the same school that I planned on going in the fall. The one thing I found most interesting about Patrick, was his love of World War II tanks and weaponry. As someone who is in love with United States history, I was quite impressed with his knowledge. Even our history professor could not tell us about the facts that he had mentioned to me. The following week, I would make my first move and give Patrick my number. That first day when we met, I knew he was and still is, the only exception.
The following week
Thursday. The day I would give Patrick Walters my number. I will admit, I was nervous. But ever since getting rejected by Hudson, I knew that I needed a support system and it seemed like Patrick was someone I could rely on. He truly is a sweetheart.
"Here is my number." I said to him as I was getting ready to go to my math class.
"O-oh. Thanks, Taylor." Patrick said back, stunned.
God his smile is so handsome. I thought. He really was good looking. At least, in my eyes. His two exes were missing out on a very smart guy.
I gave him a smile and went off to math with my heart pounding. What was this? Why was my heart pounding so fiercely? I thought. I didn't think much about it, so I went on with the rest of my day. I eventually found out the following week that I had not saved my number in his phone which made me realize that it was a huge mistake. But the reality was, I got my eyes on the one man could be my potential suitor. Was this fate? One way to find out, reader. All I know is that, this was going to be the start of a new adventure. Our adventure and our love.
