March, 2020

It's been nearly a month since Patrick and I confessed our love to each other. Now, I know what you are thinking: Why hasn't he asked you out yet? Truth is, reader, he's waiting. How long? Remember, he's not the type of guy that likes to rush things and I don't either. I would rather like him for as long as I can until he asks me out to be his girlfriend. I couldn't wait though. I wanted him to be mine. But first, I want to get to know him better and see where that leads us to. I decided meet Patrick at a local coffee shop in downtown Reno.

"Taylor! Over here!" Patrick called.

I looked over and he was wearing a red flannel and gray hoodie. Great combo for a guy who loves nature, right?

"Hey." I said as I sat down across from him.

"So, how is your weekend so far?" Patrick asked.

"Well, you know me. I am always doing work and constantly checking emails to see if I can get some scholarship opportunities." I said.

"Taylor, you really need a break. You will burn yourself out if you don't sit down and breathe for five minutes." Patrick replied back in concern.

"I know I do. Trust me, I am the crazy girl in school that takes 17 credits for one semester. I know I need a break." I shrugged.

"Well, why don't I order us some coffee cakes and two lemon waters?" Patrick offered.

"I'd like that very much. Thanks." I said with a smile.

While waiting for our order, Patrick had mentioned that he was looking into several schools across the state.

"Apparently, my parents want me to go to some Catholic school or a university near my house." Patrick said.

"Makes sense. I am looking into transferring to University of Nevada here in Reno." I replied back.

"That school does suit you, I will admit."

"Yeah, I am excited. Oh! Looks like our food is here." I said, pointing to the waiter coming towards us.

"Here are two coffee cakes and two lemon waters." The waitress said.

"Thank you so much." I replied with a smile.

We dug into our cakes and talked over the next few hours about our classes. We also talked about which professors drive us mad. I will admit, our history professor is quite hilarious. We went over several aspects of the American Revolution and why it was one of one of the major battles during the 18th Century. History truly is my friend.

Several hours later

Patrick and I left the café and walked more into the downtown area of Reno, Nevada. I needed this weekend to relax and not worry about school for once because as he had mentioned, I needed this break. We walked around corner of a restaurant to see their menu. Of course, we had just ate so we didn't think of stepping inside.  Needless to say, I loved walking with this guy. He sometimes would walk backwards to see my face and I would warn him that people were coming at his direction.

"Watch out!" I called.

"What?" Patrick said as he was walking backwards.

A man had accidentally bumped into him.

"Sorry!" The man said as he was running.

"You're fine!" Patrick called out.

I laughed so hard and caught up with him so we were side by side. We continued walking for the next hour and decided to drive up to a local park. In the parking lot, Patrick had asked me if I wanted to take a quick walk before going home and of course, I said yes.

"So, today was fun wasn't it?" I asked.

"Yeah, it was. I had fun running into people." Patrick said.

"Hey, I told you to be careful." I laughed and patted his shoulder.

"I know, I know." Patrick smirked.

He truly was the handsome dork of a guy that I wanted to love for as long as I could. He really was my miracle.
