May, 2020

Over the next couple of months into our relationship, I began thinking of ways to fully impress Patrick and our love for each other. I will admit, I was going a bit crazy with this relationship, but I wanted to make this one last since neither of our previous relationships worked out. I decided to write letters to him. Now, I wasn't going to fully send out each letter in the mail month by month. I was going to write out a series of letters and eventually give them to him when the time was right. When exactly? That story is for another time. For now, I need to get started on these.

Phone rings

"Hey, beautiful." Patrick said over the phone.

"Oh, hey. What's up?" I asked.

"Not much, just checking up on you. I noticed that you have been quickly shutting your computer down when I came over to you in the cafeteria. Any reason as to why you're doing that?" He asked.

I was typing up my very first letter that marked the month we met which was January. "Oh! No reason, heh. I just didn't want you to think I was busy with school work." I lied.

"Oh, okay. Hey listen, there's this new restaurant that opened up in Reno. Do you want to go out sometime tonight?" Patrick asked.

"What kind of a restaurant? I should at least dress for the occasion." I replied.

"It's nothing fancy, just casual indoor dining." Patrick chuckled.

"Yeah, I'd like that." I said as I was figuring out what to write about.

"Honey, you seem distracted." Patrick noticed. Knowing him, he could tell something was up as we were talking over the phone.

"Huh? Yeah, just doing some work before you pick me up." I lied again.

"Alright. I'll pick you up at 6:30pm, okay?" Patrick offered.

"Okay." I replied.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you more." I said with a smile.

He chucked and hung up the phone. Now was my chance to write my first letter. This was going to be the beginning of a series of 20 letters. Yes, reader, you heard right. 20. I am crazy, but I love to write so why not take this chance? I will not be writing all 20 letters in this chapter, per say. However, I will give you the first four to give you an idea on what I wrote for this man of mine.

"Hmm, where do I start?" I asked myself out loud. "Let's go to Word Document and type out the introduction letter as the beginning."

Letter #1: Introduction

My Sweet Love,

From the time I met you, I knew that I wanted to get to know you better. I wanted to know your hobbies, your taste in music, and your goals. Now, I have a confession to make. These letters that you will one day read all come from my heart. They are letters that depict a memory in which I made with you or from my own experiences. From rejection to hopes in finding you, these are the memories that I will cherish. Because of you and your love, I am who I am now. Because of your care and comfort, I feel safe with you. I am so lucky to call you mine and I cannot wait to continue to grow in love with you every single day. I love you so much, babe.

"Perfect." I said. "One letter down, 19 to go and 3 to go for today. I can do this. " This was going to be a major task of mine, but I knew in my heart that I wanted to capture this man's heart just a bit more. I mean, I am his girlfriend but still.

Letter #2: Becoming Your Girlfriend

My Dearest Love,

Can you believe it? I am your girlfriend now. I finally can shout to the world that I am yours. I cannot wait to make more memories with you in the coming months. Years maybe? I hope so. I want to be your girlfriend for as long as possible. We may face hurdles, but in the end, I want to love you more than I did before that argument. I want to be here with you through the good, the bad, and everything in between. Even if it means calling till 1am just to hear your handsome voice, I still want to be there for you. I know I may seem clingy, but I am in love with you Patrick. I have been since that second rejection. Those were hard times I tell you. Anyway, I hope you are doing well. I hope classes are treating you well and I hope that we can see each other again soon. I love you.

"Two letters down, two to go." I said out loud. Reader, do not go crazy like me where you write a bunch of love letters to your partner. Although, you can if you want and they'd probably love it. Either way, I hope Patrick enjoys reading these massive essays. My mind goes in crazy places, let me tell you.

Letter #3:  Two Memorable Months Together

Cutie,

It's been two month since you asked me out. Two months since I met your parents for the first time. I feel like things are going fast with us, but at the same, it feels like time is slowing down because we are savoring each moment together. I remember like it was yesterday when we first met and how you told me about your transfer plans on which schools you want to attend. If anything, I hope we do transfer to the same school. If not, I am willing to do long distance with you. I cannot wait to go on hikes, snuggle by a bonfire, and give you more kisses as time moves on. My love, you are everything to me. You give me the chance to be myself without judging and you listen more to me than speak because all you want is to hear my voice. As I write this letter, I cannot help but feel your warmth around me. How you are able to keep me safe even when I am not around you. The passion you have for nature is incredible. How you want everyone to be kind to each other and enjoy the little moments in life. There needs to be more people like you and I am very much lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for giving me the best life possible. I love you.

"I am on a roll here!" I exclaimed. I looked at the time and it was almost 6pm. Knowing me, I should get ready for my date night, but I might be able to squeeze in my last letter of the day. Let's do this thing.

Letter #4: Light to My Dark

Panda Bear,

By now, you would have already read three other letters. I sound repetitive, don't I? I can't help it that I fell in love with an amazing guy in college. Who knew that I would be able to fall in love once again at the age of 19? No one did and here we are, two months into our relationship. My love, you are the light to my tunnel. After those two rejections, I didn't think I would find anyone as adorable and as honest as you. Yes, you can be a pain sometimes, but my heart still cries for you because you are one of the few people that knows me best. My angel, I cannot wait to graduate with you and take on this next chapter of our lives. Your love is unconditional and sweet just like your kisses. I love you so much, honey.

I looked at the time and it was 6:10pm. Why is time flying so fast? My makeup takes not even 10 minutes and I could probably just throw on my navy blue dress on. Time to get dolled up before my sweetheart comes over to pick me up.

20 minutes later

I heard the doorbell ring and my man got here on time. I swear, we are like mirror images of each other because I prefer being on time for events than late. Trust me, I know from experience as a violinist and performer. I remember my director in high school saying that if we were to arrive at the official time, we could be late. Essentially, that means we should be there early enough to tune our instruments and practice before going on stage. I would chat more, but I've got a romantic date to attend. See you soon!
