October, 2019

Coming into college, I knew I wanted to start dating again. After almost a year since the day I left my ex, I was willing to start fresh again. But how could I even bring my heart towards another guy when all I could think about was getting hurt again? I wanted to find someone that was willing to treat me the best possible way and maybe it could turn into a long lasting relationship. Then again, what is love?

"So Taylor, have you met anyone yet that you are interested in?" Sasha asked me while working on a discussion board for our history class.

"Honestly, I don't know. After my ex, I never thought about dating unless my heart was truly ready to open up." I replied with my shoulders sagged.

"Well, you should try it out. Maybe not a bad idea. Plus, what's the point of college when you are not having fun? It's not like you are planning on marrying the first guy you meet." Sasha explained.

That was the thing. If I could find someone with the intent of marrying them, I would be the happiest person as long as they were treating me with respect. But, I guess I am still too young to even think that far into the future.

"Yeah, I agree with Sasha. Give it a shot and we will be here to support you." Rebecca agreed as she took my hand to show that she cared.

I am glad I have these girls. They always know what to say and are there for me when I need them the most. At least, for now.

"I guess you guys are right. Can't hurt to try and honestly, I cannot wait any longer." I said with a slight smile on my face.

Originally, I thought that I would end up finding a guy when I would transfer to a 4-year university. But, maybe this won't be as bad. After all, I was always stuck in the academic and performing world. Might as well branch out, right?

Later that day

Before I went into my Physical Geology class, I ran into two guys that were sitting on a bench. It turns out the guy on the right was in my class. At first, I thought the two guys were friends but actually, they were brothers. Twins.

"Hello. You're in my Geology class, right? My name is Taylor Mitchell." I said with a slight smile.

"Yeah, I am. I sit next to my sister in the front row of the class. Her name is, Samantha. Craig replied back.

"Oh nice. So, you two
are brothers?" I asked.

"Yes, we are." replied Hudson.

My first impressions of Hudson was that he's tall and handsome. Somewhere around 5'11 in height and his hair was the color of tree bark. His brunette eyes shined like a glass window hitting the sun, although, it was pouring rain and I had to carry an umbrella across campus.

"So, tell me about yourself. What are your hobbies? Major?" I asked, trying to control myself with all the questions I had in mind.

"I am a musician. I was drum major back in high school, but now I play guitar. My major is pharmaceuticals." Hudson replied back with a smile.

"You were drum major?" I asked in shock.

"Yes, I was." Hudson laughed.

"How the....? Wait, so what was the experience like?" I asked out of curiosity.

"That is another story for another time. Looks like you have to get to class. My brother and sister already left." Hudson said, looking at his phone.

I didn't realize that I had 10 minutes before class started.

"Crap. Well, can we walk to Orville Hall together?" I asked.

"Sure." Hudson replied.

We walked together upstairs towards the hall my Physical Geology class was in. It was the first time I had truly liked someone with the same passions as well. Or so I thought.

Before I went into Orville Hall, I asked Hudson if he wanted my number.

He nodded and our numbers were both in our phones within seconds. He mentioned that he wanted to send me some videos of guitar covers he's done recently.

A guitarist and a former drum major? Life can't be much better than this, right? I thought while walking into my classroom with a massive grin on my face.

This was the beginning of something new. This was the beginning of something greater and I could not wait to tell my friends about this person in my life the following day. Little did I know, things would turn for the worst.
