Ruby's POV
The next day, the students of Hogwarts, and the professors, stand outside the castle waiting for the people from the other schools to get here. The trio and I stand with the crowd of students who where all practically buzzing with anticipation and excitment for the new arrival's.
A sudden rumble fills the sky and a group of what looked like winged hourses cleave the clouds, pulling a gigantic powder blue carriage. The carriage lands with a thud that practically shakes the earth and causes some to lose their balance.
Just after the carriage lands, bubbles roll the surface of the Black Lake. A large black mast appears through the water and rises higher and higher. A black ship rises out of a whirlpool of water, looking skeletal and ghostly in the half light of the evening sky.
Students move to the courtyard and everyone looks expectantly to Dumbledore, who is standing with the rest of the staff. I notice Ron nudge Harry and point to Barty Crouch, who I just realized is here.
"What's he doing here?" Ron asks, looking towards Hermione and I.
"I don't know, Ron. How would we know?" I ask him. He goes to respond, but as he does Dumbledore speaks up.
"Please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic!" Dumbledore says.
A woman in a diaphanous gown stride into the courtyard. She is beautiful, elegant, and seems to be about ten feet tall. I may be rounding up.
"Blimey. That is one big woman." Seamus says and I snort and shoot him a slight glare.
"You can't just say stuff like that, Seamus." I say. He looks at me confused and I just roll my eyes and look away. He probably didn't mean for it to come off as rude, but it did.
One by one, a group of stunningly beautiful Beauxbatons girls enter the courtyard in a gracefully sychronyzation. Clad in silky, skin-clinging robes, they make a decided impression on Ron...and pretty much every other boy present.
"Oh, here we go. Keep it in your pants boys. I can guarantee they won't be interested." I say to all the boys near me who are gawking at the pretty women. You would think they never seen a girl before. They all look at me with offended looks and glares and I just laugh and shrug as Hermione looks at me with a look of amusement and disapproval.
They do a bunch of cartwheels to the top of the courtyard and stand in a circle as they wait for their last two members. A teenage girl, who seems to catch the attention of a lot of boys, and and 8-year-old girl who appears to be her sister. They vault side-by-side to the center of the circle. The teenage girl pulls out a silk scarf, dangles it from her fingertips and "spins" her sister like a top.
The courtyard roars with approval and I see Hermione roll her eyes. I'm just confused as to why they are making such a dramatic entrance. Are they trying to impress us or something?
"Madame Maxime. Welcome to Hogwarts, my dear." Dumbledore says to the very tall lady.
"Ah, Dumbly-dorr. You are well, yes?" Madame Maxine asks.
"Blooming." Dumbledore responds.
Maxime steps away and passes Hagrid. Suddenly, the thrums of the balalaikas fill the courtyard.
"Hmm, sounds like we are getting another dramatic entrance." I mumble to Hermione and she nods in agreement.
"And now...our friends from the north! Please greet the proud sons of Drumstrang!" Dumbledore announces.
A tall, sleek and arrogant looking man strides forward. He is railed by a regiment of stoic Drumstrang boys in dark fur cloaks. A pair of sleek black panthers with eyes that glitter like gold pad sullenly at the arrogant man's side. As the man reaches the top of the courtyard, he looks around imperiously.
