Ruby's POV

All the students ended up having to sleep in the Great Hall in sleeping bags. I barley got any sleep, unsurprisingly. The thoughts about all the sh*t going on in my life right now made it impossible to get even a minute of sleep, no matter how tired I was.

The Fat Lady (still a rude name in my opinion) had been replaced by a painting of a tiny knight, Sir Cadogan, much to my amusement and every other Gryffindors displeasure. It is beyond me how he was even a knight. But he was still hilarious so I don't care.

"Who dares challenge Sir Cadogan! Back, you scurvy braggarts! You rogues!" Sir Cadogan exclaims.

"He's barking mad!" Seamus says. I was nearly rolling on the ground from laughter because of the actions of Cadogan.

"What did you expect? After what happened to the Fat Lady, none of the other pictures would take the job." Dean says.

"I think he's funny." I say after recovering from laughter.

"He keeps changing the password. Twice just this morning! I've taken to keeping a list." Neville says miserably as he holds up a wrinkled piece of parchment. Harry, Ron, Hermione and I begin to leave for class.

"Farewell, comrades! If ever you have need of noble heart and steely sinew, call upon Sir Cadogan!" The small Knight says as we leave.

"Yeah, we'll call you...if we ever need someone mental." Ron says making me snort. That picture truly is crazy.

"Turn to page 394." Says a monotone voice. None other than Snape of course.

Everyone's favorite potions master is acting as substitute for an absent Lupin. I wonder what's wrong with Lupin. Maybe he is sick? It would explain why he has been so pale and sick looking the last couple of days. But my gut is telling me there is something more to it.

"Excuse me, sir, but...where's Professor Lupin?" Harry asks, just as curious as the entire class.

"That's not really your concern, is it, Potter? Suffice it to say, your Professor finds himself incapable of teaching at the present time. Page 394." Snape says.

He waves the paper moth that Malfoy made away, blows out a candle and a slide show begins. An ancient woodcut of a horrific beast flickers at the front of the room. Ron frowns down at his book. I look and become a bit confused as well.

"Werewolves?" Ron asks. Oh jeez, why do I feel like there is a connection that I'm not getting.

Hermione raises her hand, "But, sir, we've only just begun learning about Red Caps and Hinkypunks."

Hermione, I love you. But please shut up before you get in trouble and we have to do a big as* essay. "We're not meant to start nocturnal beasts for weeks-" Hermione gets interrupted by Snape.

"Quiet!" He says. 'Wow. Always the kind man, eh Professor?' I think sarcastically as Ron asks Harry if he saw Hermione come in. I just stopped questioning it at this point. If she wants to tell me, she will.

"Now. Which one of you can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?" Snape asks the class.

I raise my hand slightly, not expecting him to call on me anyway. As the rest of the class stares quietly at the slide of an attacking werewolf, Hermione was waiting desperately for someone to respond to Snape's question. The paper moth Malfoy made flutters by Harry.

He quickly swats it and pins it to his desk. A tiny cloud of moth dust floats into the air and Harry lifts his palm. Malfoy's parchment reappeared. I still have my hand raised like Hermione.
