The Need for Meat!

I feel like I heard someone say my name just now. But I'm Giro, not Nio. It must be just my imagination.

Oh! So I chose my new trait. Here they are:

Current Traits (+3)

[Alchemy 23] [Throw 15] [Eagle Eye 28] [Enchant 11] [Archery 20] [Crafting 13] [Mixing 16] [Mana Control 35] [Discovery 24] [Cooking 1] [Wood Element Inheritor 19]

Unequipped Traits

[Combining 8]

I unequipped [Combining] for now since I don't use it much yet. I'll switch to it when I need it though. Changing traits is just a click and drag on my status window. It was pretty cool.

RIght now, I'm at a general store buying foodstuff and cooking tools, and I'm now grateful for Winter's gift. Pans are 100 gold each; tongs, plates and mitts were 150 gold; and things like flour and spices total to 50 gold when bought at minimum quantities. There's probably another way to get these kind of things, but I haven't seen anything like rock salt or peppercorn. Thus, I'm stuck with paying out all my money. Why does it seem like all my skills require hefty gold sums to start? The life to freedom is a hard path. Oops, I'm getting off track again. I need to fix that.

The weird thing was that knives weren't sold. Like anywhere. Did meat just drop ready to be cooked or something? Even then, I need a knife to make diced pieces or to cut a slab against the grain. Maybe sword users have an easier time with cooking since one of the key items can be substituted with their weapon, but not me. I'm also not keen on using my herb knife on edible foods - it just doesn't feel right. No, what I need is a legitimate kitchen knife. Maybe I should have asked Ms. Onna for one...

Anyways, my first order of business is to actually find something to cook. From game logic, I would need to hunt wolves or some monster that looks like it could drop meat. I ran outside and started searching for something to hunt.

However, I expected an easier time. All I could find for a while were small, bluish spiders who attacked me on sight. I killed them on instinct, but it felt a little weird to be killing forest-based monsters as a guardian of said forest. Maybe since they're considered a threat to the peace, I can treat like normal monsters. I hope that's the case, because I'll never be able to return home if it's not. On another note, my skills with a bow have gotten a lot better ever since my fight with that guy over in front of Argus. I just noticed. I forgot to call on my aimbot spells, but I've still hit my marks frequently. It's probably because my archery trait has leveled up significantly. See, look:

I could've sworn my archery level was below 20 before the PvP battle. Anyways, once I passed level 20, my aim magically became a lot better. I still miss, but I miss less than I hit.

What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, finding meat. Most games have a monster that drops meat, right? Yet the area was filled with spiders. And slimes. And slimes eating spiders. And spiders eating slimes. Ew.

I wonder if the spiders will drop meat. I mean, it sounds stupid, but they're the only mob with "flesh" on the map right now. I haven't seen any in recent drops, but that doesn't mean the drop is nonexistent, right? This was my thought process when this happened:

Cave Spider Flesh quality: normal

The flesh of a cave spider. All spiders are naturally poisonous, and the cave spider is no exception. Causes [Poison 2] upon consumption.

... I think I've run into a much bigger problem here.
