Time to remodel my living space, aka the actual tree part of my creation. If I hollow the whole thing out, with two feet of wall, I should have enough space to put a bed and some other stuff in, as well as a hole to put a ladder down in my root cavity - I mean, laboratory. "Remodel plan A: begin. Removal all plant matter within tree, leave two feet thickness as circumference."
A quick shudder from the tree told me the job was done. I figured out that the magic in this game is, as quoted from my teacher Ms. Manga, merely a high-level form of human suggestion. As long as my mental image is clear, then all I need to do say something related. It just helps if I specify for multi-step spells like the plan A spell I thought up. "Formation: Bedroll, Trapdoor with ladder, Threshold." A archway, about five or six feet tall, appeared on the tree. Can't say about the bed and whatnot - I can't see it. "Formation: Glow Moss, ceiling." Light began filtering out of the once-black cavity. Cool, that should be good for now. I'll add things as I go. Oh wait. "Stairs." A few of the roots on the exposed dome lined up and turned into some facsimile of stairs. I walked into my new home.
"YAY HOME I HAVE HOME" I squealed as I ran around the house. It was a lot larger than I thought - the twin size bed frame took up about a sixteenth of the room space, and the trapdoor took up half that space. I climbed down into the dome and found it to be pitch black. "Formation: Glow Moss, Upper curvature." The walls became lined with glowing light, and some light filtered down between the exposed roots. "Formation: Tables." Wide platforms sprouted from the dome walls, forming a continuously circular table. It came up to about my game character chest height, which was a comfortable height for mixing, crafting and whatever else I might do. I set everything out - my mixing set, crafting tools I never used, and my current inventory - in different spaces of the dome and still had lots of space. I made a chest for me to offload my potions in, then went back outside. I finally have a home!
Now to craft or mix or whatever. I began to experiment with whatever I had on hand, mixing and boiling up as many concoctions as I could.
Surt's Oil: A highly explosive fluid. Drinking this will cause internal combustion and death automatically. May ignite spontaneous upon missile contact. Component in explosives.
Well, obviously!
Fire Potion: A bottle of liquid fire. Good for starting wildfires, or controlled campfires. Inflict [Sear 3]
Aloe Vera: Cures burned states and [Sear 3].
Water of Muspelheim: Causes external combustion upon contact. Allows drinker to breathe fire upon consumption at the cost of HP or MP.
All the new ones are offensive potions, except for Aloe Vera (badly named, in my opinion). I'm now almost completely out of stock, though, and all I got were repeats and fire-based mixes. Let's see if I can combine anything... Like the antidotes. I picked out Anti-Venom and Anti-Electrum. "Combine!"
Multi-Antidote: Cures up to [Poison 3] and [Stun 3].
Can I keep doing this? "Combine!" "Combine!" "Combine!" "Combine!"
Super Antidote: Cure all status debuffs up to rank 3.
Anything else? If I had a Jewel GraHerb, I could probably do something to this since the GraHerb is so magical.
Can I make anything with just the paste? Like, without boiling it?
I mashed Venom Ivy with Ignisbloom and scooped the paste into a bottle. The bottle transformed into something like a rectangular container with a slightly smaller rectangle as an opening. The cork looked like a block.
Poison Fire Poultice: A poultice that inflicts [Poison 3] and [Sear 3] upon contact with skin or fur. Can be dried to produce powder.
Oh, this is how to make pepper spray! By drying poultices! I'll do that when I get more Venom Ivy.
Let's try for an Elkthorn and Applet Grass poultice.
Healer's Poultice: Heals moderate wounds instantly and major wounds over time with contact. Can only be applied on external areas.
So it's basically the stuff you wrap inside bandages to heal cuts and lacerations. This one will be useful; it probably helps recover health in that way. But I'm running out of plants, and I don't want to keep leveling Discovery when I could be increasing Craft and Mixing.
"Why don't you ask the animals for help?" Loeta's voice came like the voice of heaven.
"I can do that?! Like, they can bring me Elkthorn and Ignisbloom?" I gasped.
"Well, yeah, for common things like that. Just give them something to trade, like a drink or food. Spiders, for example, like drinking poison because it makes them stronger."
Poison is good? That's a first. "Wait, how many types of herb are in Ilidas?"
"Hundreds? I don't know; it's a lot."
"THAT. IS. CRAZY." The possibilities! The creativity! It's too tempting! "How do I call a spider?"
A rustling of underbrush drew my attention, and I watched as a forest spider scuttled out from the bushes.
"Like that."
Okay, then. "Can you bring me herbs? I'll give you something in return." I felt weird talking to a spider.
The spider shivered and nodded, and then disappeared back into the brush.
"Well, I hope that worked." That reminds me.
I opened up my message block. A mass of messages once again raided my screen.
I swiped them away. "Hi."
"Will you stop coming out of nowhere?" Melly quipped.
"I nearly stabbed myself." Nic grumbled.
"I nearly bonked Melly in the head with my staff!" Delia complained.
"Staff, are you a mage, Delia?" I asked.
"Of course. This is the only ranged class group that is actually useful."
I didn't say anything; if I said what I took, it'll-
"But, Delia, didn't you know that Nio took Archery?" said Melly in an innocent voice.
Silence.
"WHAT?!"
"Nio, where are you?" Nic's voice cut in.
"In the forest. Still. Come see me if you want." Delia's inhalations were becoming louder. "I'm cutting out, see you later!" I dropped the chat.
I wonder if they'll ever find me...
