"So, you yourself don't have any volleyball experience?"

Coach Mizoguchi asks me, leaning back in his chair.

"Nah, but I've watched Makki play since our parents met, and I volunteered at volleyball clinics in the States for a while. I know the game."

The coach mulls over my words, then smiles, handing me a clipboard.

"You'll just have to fill these forms out, then you're all set!"

He kindly says and I grin, nearly hugging the man.

"Thank you so much! I can't wait to start!"

I assure the man, then leave the office with a grin. I can't wait to tell Makki!

Kunumi sticks his tongue out at me and I laugh, taking the last milk from the vending machine.

"Sorry, Akira, but I got here first. I'm sure there's another vending machine somewhere.

I assure the boy, who begins to pout.

"But I wanted that one."

He tries to beg, but I find myself unphased by his pouting lips.

"Too bad, shorty. I'll buy you another one, though. What flavor do you want?"

I ask him, and the stubborn boy points to the one I grip with my blue nails. With my free hand, I lightly swat his arm, still laughing.

"Seriously? Fine, you little dramatic fuck, I'll get a strawberry one instead."

I say to him, giving him the drink and smiling at the happiness present on his face. Quickly, I grab my own drink and follow the first year, the two of us returning to the cafeteria.

"So, when will you tell the boys that you're our manager?"

He asks me, the stupid question nearly making me whack the boy.

"At practice, duh. I wanna surprise Makki and everyone, gauge their reactions. Trust me, it'll be funny."

Akira smiles at my words, and the two of us finally find his chaotic teammates, who seem to be engaged in another debate, this time about aliens. Oikawa slams his hand on the table as I sit down next to him, a dirty glare on his face.

"I promise you, they're real! I posted a UFO on my story last night, how can you not believe me!"

He protests, causing the team around him to laugh. Oh, how I can't wait for practice.

Teru quicky examines the piece of graph paper, then nods.

"Yeah, you did all of this right. Why'd you say you were bad at math, you liar?"

She jokes, and I shrug, taking my notebook from her outstretched hands.

"I guess math was a little harder for me in the States.

I joke, and the girl still grins, complimenting me on my smarts as she whips out her own homework. The atmosphere surrounding the two of us is calming, and I decide to get the tea about her and Oikawa.

"Why were you and Loserkawa so awkward around each other earlier?"

I blurt out, watching as the blue haired girl lets out a deep sigh before responding.

"Well, he's kinda my ex boyfriend? We ended on really bad terms, I called him out for wanting to fuck a volleyball more than me, and he got pissy and I dumped him."

The girl bluntly states, and I decide not to push the issue further. Cleary, the girl is a little hung up on him still.

"Well, I'm gonna be the team's manager, just a warning. Sadly, you'll probably see him, and the team, a lot."

I warn her, her smile assuring me that it's fine. Hopefully, her past relationship with Oikawa doesn't fuck up my relationship with the team.

"Y/N-chan, why are you here!"

Oikawa questions me the second I walk through the giant brown doors, immediately slinging his arm around my shoulder. Rather than shiver at his touch, I embrace it, shrugging off any strange feelings.

"It's a surprise, Loserkawa. You'll find out in a sec."

I joke, swatting his arm away and turning to my favorite volleyball player instead.

"Kunumi!"

I yell, alerting the brunette boy of my presence. Immediately, he walks over to us, prying me out of Oikawa's grip.

"Y/N! You came earlier than I thought you would!"

He says happily, completely ignoring the glare his captain sends to us.

"I had nothing better to do, plus I wanted to be early. Look good on my first day, yanno?"

Kunumi smiles at my response, sticking his tongue out at the shocked Oikawa before dragging me away. The adorable boy leads me to the younger coach, who grins before handing me a teal jacket.

"Ready to tell everyone? I'm sure they'll be excited."

He promises and I laugh, knowing today will be the start of a new adventure.

A/N: Hey folks! I have a lot of school work these next few days, so I decided to be semi-proactive and publish this chapter tonight! I'm sorry if this story seems to be moving a little slowly right now, I'm just building up some background before we get into the good stuff! I promise you, stuff is gonna heat up in these next few chapters :))
