Chapter 13 First Day as a Junior

The following morning, Mackenzie awoke and commenced the process of unpacking her lead pencils, folders, and organizing her binders. As she was engaged in this activity, she heard her phone ring; it was a call from her brother, Miles. Upon answering, Kenzie greeted him, to which Miles inquired about her excitement regarding her first day. Kenzie expressed her enthusiasm, affirming that she was indeed excited. Miles then asked about her planned activities for the day, and Kenzie informed him that they would be receiving their schedules and preparing their materials.

Miles requested to see her dorm room, prompting Kenzie to rise and position herself by the door, activating her camera to provide a virtual tour. Miles responded with admiration, stating that it looked great, to which Kenzie expressed her gratitude before returning to her desk to continue unpacking her highlighters, gum, hand sanitizer, body cream, and hand cream.

Mackenzie then inquired if Miles was heading to school, and he confirmed that he was in the process of packing his bag. At that moment, Kayla, Kenzie's dorm mate, awakened, leading to a moment of confusion for Miles, who pointed at her. Kenzie corrected him, explaining that it was impolite to point and that Kayla was her dorm mate. Feeling remorseful about his actions, Miles quickly excused himself, wishing Kenzie a pleasant day. They exchanged expressions of affection before concluding the call.

Mackenzie greeted Kayla, who inquired about her earlier conversation. Kenzie clarified that she had been speaking with her brother, Miles. As Mackenzie continued to organize her school supplies in her pencil case, Kayla prepared for the day.

both Mackenzie and Kayla were ready to commence their activities for the day.

Mackenzie retrieved her orange high-top sneakers, while Kayla collected her Buffalo Rams keychain. "Are you ready?" Kayla inquired cheerfully. "Yes," Mackenzie replied with a smile. The two young women exited the dormitory, their expressions reflecting their joy.

Later that day,
Mackenzie and Kayla engaged in a conversation regarding their academic schedules, noting that they shared several classes. After approximately five minutes of discussion, they decided to dine together, during which they conversed about the following day. Mackenzie opted for Alfredo, while Kayla chose steak and fries. Subsequently, the two friends returned home to prepare for bed. "Good night," Mackenzie said. "Good night," Kayla responded.
