Afterward, the girls utilized the bathroom individually. Following this, they stepped outside to enjoy some fresh air and applied lotion. They then proceeded to have breakfast, during which Mackenzie consumed a vegetable omelet while Kayla opted for a cinnamon roll. After breakfast, the girls prepared their school bags and left for school. However, during the school day, Mackenzie did not encounter Johnny.
Johnny's perspective:
I was en route to New Orleans to visit an old friend, Christopher Lasalle. We shared a strong friendship, and I intended to bring Mackenzie to New Orleans after she completed her high school or college education, depending on when he arrived. Upon arrival, he encountered a boy dressed in a black shirt, jeans, and black shoes, accompanied by a girl wearing a cover-up shirt, jeans, and shoes. Lasalle greeted Johnny, inquiring about his recent activities. Johnny introduced himself to Lasalle's partner, Sonja Percy, who also extended her greetings. As the three of them entered the truck, Lasalle asked Johnny what he had been up to. Johnny shared that he had met a girl in high school named Mackenzie and expressed his intention to bring her to New Orleans after her educational journey, prompting Percy to inquire whether they were dating.
The situation regarding dating is contingent upon Percy’s inquiry. Johnny mentions that he and Mackenzie have been in a relationship since Chapter 17. Percy expresses his hope for a positive outcome, to which Johnny responds with gratitude. They then return to the squad room, where Lasalle introduces Johnny Carson as his close friend. Johnny is introduced to King, whose full name is Dwyane cassius Pride, and they exchange pleasantries. Following this interaction, Johnny proceeds to the back to focus on his schoolwork. As the day concludes, Mackenzie plugs in her phone and selects an outfit for the following day, opting for an ensemble that includes teal shoes. Subsequently, she brushes her hair and prepares for bed. Before retiring for the night, Mackenzie bids Kayla goodnight, to which Kayla responds. The two girls then turn off their lamps, close their eyes, and quickly fall asleep.
