Hurt, Pain and Comfert

Johanna leaned against the wall digging around for her keys, the tears blurring her vision, her whole body felt numb as she tried to wrap her mind around what actually happened. Finding her keys she unlocked the door and slipped inside quickly hoping her parents were in bed already.
"Hey Jo" Kate said from her seat on the couch, she saw her daughter's tears and stood up quickly. "What happened?" Kate asked.
Johanna only burst into tears even more grabbing her mother's hand she pulled her into the downstairs bathroom. Kate closed the door behind them and turned back to she Johanna holding her stomach.
"What's going on sweetie?" Kate asked worried now.
"He... I didn't..." She said through sobs, Kate moved her to the toilet setting her down on the seat where she could kneel in front of her.
"Did Jake do something?" Kate asked Johanna nodded. "Will you show me? I can't do anything to help if I don't know what's wrong." Johanna reached down lifting her shirt, her skin was bruised and red. Kate reached out touching it making Johanna flinch.
"Does that hurt?" Kate asked Johanna nodded closing her eyes.
"I didn't want to have sex with him and he got mad when I tried to break things up between us." Johanna said.
"I'm going to call aunt Lanie real quick and see what she says." Kate said standing up. "Did he do anything else?" Kate asked hesitant.
"No I got out of there but everything hurts." She said Kate squeezed her hand.
"It's going to be okay I promise." Kate said kissing the top of her head.
Kate walked into the living room leaving Johanna in the bathroom. Pushing herself up she looked at herself in the mirror trying to dry the tears streaming down her face. She could hear her mom talking on the phone and the front door open, it was probably her father how from her brother's baseball practice. She leaned her ear against the door wanting to hear what was happening.
"Hey hon" Rick said as Kate ended the call with Lanie.
"Hi, how was baseball?" She asked.
"Good I got to bat and did well, coach said that I could be up next game." Carson said.
"Good for you bud, why don't you go get showered and cleaned up for dinner" Kate suggested, Johanna could hear him run up the stairs.
"You alright? You look really pale." Rick asked.
"Johanna came home crying, she and Jake got into a fight."
"Is she okay?" Rick asked.
"I think I'm going to take her to the hospital, she had some bruising on her ribs"
"WHAT?" Rick asked morried, Johanna opened the door and Rick turned to look at her. "Are you okay sweetie?" Rick asked Johanna shrugged.
"Lanie suggested going in, are you okay with that?" Johanna nodded still not saying anything.
"Jo did Jake do this to you?"
"He got mad and he wasn't himself" Rick sighed rubbing his face as Kate laid her hand on his shoulder.
"Will you stay and watch Carson?" Kate asked he nodded.
"Yeah, text me with updates" He said kissing her softly.
"Daddy" Johanna said, Rick looked at her seeing the tears for again, stepping forward he held her trying to be gentle. He kissed the top of her head softly.
"I love you sweets" He said, he use to call her that when she was little.
"Love you too" She said not wanting to look him in the eye.
"We'll be back soon" Kate said helping Johanna out the door.
"Yeah" Castle said with a soft smile.

Carson came down the stairs wanting to see his parent's and his sister but no one was in the living room.
"Dad?" He called.
"In here bud" Rick called from his office, Kate and Johanna had been at the hospital for almost an hour and she was finally getting back to be checked out.
"Where's mom and Jo?" He asked.
"Come here" Rick said pulling his chair out, Carson came around standing in front of his dad.
"Jo got hurt so mom took her to the hospital." Rick said Carson looked terrified.
"Is she okay?"
"I'm not sure but momma said that she would call, I'll tell you right away." He said Carson nodded. "Why don't we watch Tv and order Pizza" Rick suggested.
"Okay" Carson said with a soft smile. He walked out into the living room plopping down onto the couch, Rick grabbed the phone and called for Pizza. Rick sat down next to Carson letting him lean into him.
"You alright little man?" Rick asked putting his arm around his youngest son.
"Yeah I guess" He said leaning his head against Rick's shoulder, Rick had never thought much on how close he would be with his youngest son because he wasn't close with his oldest son Lucas. But Carson had surprised them and was a mini Castle when it came to writing.

Kate helped Jo out of the car after they had been at the hospital for almost 3 hours. They walked inside the elevator and Kate pushed the button to the top floor.
"Can I just go to bed when I get back?" Jo asked Kate brushed back her hair and nodded.
"Of course, you have to take some medicine but then you can go up"
"Thank you mom" She said looking at her mother, they hadn't been getting along much while she was with Jake.
"For what?" Kate asked.
"Not freaking out and being there, I was stupid to think he cared about me." Jo said with a sigh.
"No you weren't, it was a love haze it makes you do stupid irrational things because you think every guy is the one."
"Did you think dad was?" Jo asked making Kate laugh.
"No, but according to him I did" She smiled
"Dad loves a good story" Jo smiled as the doors opened. Kate and Jo walked towards the apartment and Kate unlocked the door seeing Rick and Carson asleep on the couch. Kate smiled looking at Jo who rolled her eyes wincing at her sore chest.
"Why don't you go upstairs I'll wake these two up then come help you" Johanna nodded walking carefully up the stairs.
Kate walked over to the couch kissing Rick's forehead then rubbing Carsons arm softly.
"Hey there sleepy heads" Kate whispered as Rick opened his eyes.
"Hey where's Jo?" Rick asked quietly.
"Upstairs, I don't think Carson is waking up any time soon." Kate smiled her hand still on his arm.
"I'll take him up to bed" Rick said moving his son off of him carefully. "How are you?" He asked slipping his arm around her waist.
"I just wish I could do more, she two cracked ribs and I don't even get to arrest the SOB" Kate said laying her head on his chest.
"I know, but Ryan called and they charged him with assault." Rick said Kate nodded.
"I need to go help her get changed and get her medicine" Kate said looking up at him.
"I love you" He said kissing her softly.
"You too" She smiled looking down at their son as Rick picked him up.
Rick carried him upstairs while Kate go Johanna a glass of water before going up to check on her. When she walked in Johanna was standing in front of the mirror looking at her ribs.
"You okay?" Kate asked Johanna looked at her in the mirror.
"I don't know" She said with a sigh wincing once again.
"Come on let's get you into PJ's and get to bed" Kate suggested. Johanna was shaking now almost in tears. "Sweetie it's okay to cry" Kate said going over to her.
"Maybe I should have slept with him" Johanna said.
"No you shouldn't have, you did the right thing. Don't ever be ashamed because your not ready. Besides I'm to young to be a grandma." Kate said with a soft smile.
"I just want to go to bed" She said turning so Kate would help her get her shirt off. Kate moved to the dresser grabbing a pair of sleep shorts and her dream catcher sleep shirt. When she was dressed Kate tucked her into bed.
"Seems like the last time I did this you were 9 not 16" Kate said sitting on the bed. "Do you want anything before I go?"
"No I'm fine" Johanna said choking back a sob.
"Call me if you need anything." Kate said kissing her forehead before standing up. Getting to the door she opened it seeing Rick standing there. Letting him in he came in and sat down next to her daughter.
"I wanted to tell you how proud I am of you today, I love you sweets" He said with a soft smile.
"Love you too daddy" She said softly.
"Get some sleep, I'll make you pancakes in the morning"
"Sounds good" She smiled letting him kiss her cheek.
Rick stood up walking to the door.
"Mom" Jo said quickly as Kate started to close the door.
"Yeah" Kate said pocking her head back in.
"I don't want to be by myself" She said.
"Do you want me to stay with you?" Kate asked.
"Would you mind?" Johanna asked.
"Not at all, let me go get ready and I'll be right back."
Johanna smiled softly and Kate closed the door looking at Rick.
"You may be sleeping alone tonight" Rick smiled walking with her down to the bedroom where they got ready for bed together before she wished him a goodnight and went back to be with her little girl.
