Landside

Rick stood in the kitchen getting dinner ready for when Kate got home. He smiled feeling two small hands wrap around his thigh, looking down he met the eyes of his little girl.
"Hey there munchkin what's the matter?" He asked.
"When is mamma getting home?" Johanna asked looking up at him.
"In a little bit, do you want to help me make dinner?" she smiled softly and nodded. Rick grabbed her stool putting it next to him. "Can you open the pasta for me?" He asked putting the box in front of her, she nodded taking the box to pull it open.
"Here daddy" She said handing him the ripped box.
"Good job thank you" He smiled. "Where's your brother?"
"In his room playing trains" She said Rick laughed.
Carson was 6 and Johanna was 4 but she was far better behaved and had her mother's heart and personality. Rick had always loved having little girls and Alexis being a daddy's girl, but Johanna clung to Kate when she was home wanting her to sing to her. Having that in his life was amazing and he loved it more than he thought possible. Johanna was his sweet little girl while Carson was a mini him.
"Did you want to play with him?" Rick asked.
"No" Johanna said simply.
"Do you want to play something?"
"Can we play princess?"Johanna asked clapping her hands together.
"Yes we can" He smiled lifting her up.
She smiled giggling happily as he walked to her small tea table and dress up trunk. He put her down letting her rummage through the trunk. She handed him a tiara and a wand.
"Thank you princess Johanna." He smiled putting on the tiara. "What are you going to wear?"
"My crown" She said putting on her crown.
"You look beautiful" He smiled.
"Thank you daddy" She blushed.
Carson came down the stairs crying. Rick got up walking over he kneeled in front of Carson.
"What's the matter bud?"
"I pinched my finger in my toy chest." He said holding up his red finger.
"Hey it's alright" Rick said kissing his sons finger. "Lets get you come ice." He said going to the kitchen.
Carson followed him whimpering quietly, the door to the apartment and Kate walked in.
"Hey my loves" She said shutting the door behind her.
"Hey sweetie" Rick said wrapping the ice in a towel and handing it to Carson.
"Mamma" Johanna smiled running to Kate who scooped her up in her arms kissing her cheek.
"Hi baby girl" Kate smiled.
"How was work?" Rick asked walking towards her Carson beside him.
"You know, just another day of catching killers." She smiled kissing him softly.
"What I love about you." He smiled.
"What happened here?" Kate asked looking at Carson.
"Ah you know nothing much he just pinched his finger." Rick said ruffling Carson's hair.
"You okay?" Kate asked looking at Carson who nodded. "That's my big boy" Kate said kissing the top of his head.
After several hours Kate and Rick had put the kids to bed and were seated in the living room. Kate was leaning against him.
"Hey can we talk?" She said pushing herself up.
"Yeah" He said pushing back her hair.
"Do you remember how we talked about having more kids when Jo was 2 and we tried for all that time then just kind of gave up?"
"Of course" Rick said, Kate took his hand.
"Do you still want to have another?" Rick smiled.
"Do you want to start trying again?"
"Well we don't really have to try that hard." She said biting her lip.
"Are you?" He stopped, Kate laughed nodding slowly.
"I took a test today at lunch." Rick smiled happily.
"Your really pregnant?" he asked.
"Yeah, are you okay with this?" She asked He beamed.
"I'm more than okay with this" He said pulling her in for a kiss, he rested his forehead against hers laying his hand on her stomach. "We're gonna have another baby" He smiled kissing her nose.
"Yes we are Mr. Castle." She laughed. "We should celebrate."
"I like your thinking Mrs. Castle." He said standing up, he lifted her into his arms letting her legs go around his waist. He walked towards the bed dropping her onto the bed carefully reminding her of his faithful and undying love for her.
