Stop and Stare

Rick stumbled into the 12th precinct covered in blood. Ryan and Esposito both looked up to see him come in and ran over.
"Bro what the hell happened?" Esposito asked, Castle looked down at his hands.
"I got away."
"We thought you were dead." Ryan said
"No, I was hoping you guys could help me."
"I'll call Lanie and have her come up." Esposito said walking away towards his desk.
"Where's Kate?" Rick asked as Ryan led him to the conference room.
"Gate's made her take a month leave, which she took reluctantly." Ryan said closing the door. "I'll have to ask you this later but what happened that day?"
"I was driving and a suburban drove up next to me and ran me off the road, I managed to get out and started running but he caught up with me. The next think I knew I was handcuffed and in a room."
"Who took you?" Rick sighed.
"Tyson"
The door opened and Lanie walked in.
"They said it was really you but I didn't believe it." Lanie said in disbelief.
"I'll leave you two and call Beckett."
"Thanks" Rick said.
Kate sat in the doctors office staring at the ultrasound. She was alone but she wished Castle or even her dad were there. Her phone rang and she picked it up.
"Hey Ryan." She said with a soft smile, it was sweet how much they had cared about her.
"Are you busy?" He asked.
"I'm at the doctors but I'm almost done what's going on?" She asked looking at the clock.
"You need to come to the 12th"
"Is everything alright?" She asked jumping down she grabbed her bag and her clothes.
"It's about Castle, you just need to get here when you can. But don't worry it isn't bad I promise."
"Okay yeah I'll be there in a few." Kate said hanging up so she could get dressed.
When Castle was in clean clothes Ryan and Esposito came to take his statement about what had happened.
"Something had gone wrong with something Tyson was trying to do and he got drunk, his gun was on him but he hadn't put it back in the hulster right, I managed to get it and when he realized I had taken ithe came at me with a knife and I shot him." Rick explained he wasn't ashamed for what he had done, it was all in self defense. "I only knocked out the people he had on look out."
"Where were you held?"
"old Victorian house in the Hampton's, I stole the truck that was there" Rick explained seeing Kate walk through the precinct.
"Go ahead, I think we've got what we need." Esposito said standing up. Rick got up and walked out into the precinct.
"Kate" He said watching her, she turned and looked at him. She looked at him as her eyes welled with tears, hurrying towards him she threw her arms around him.
"I missed you" She whispered as he hugged her tightly. He looked at her before kissing her hard, she relaxed under his touch and felt the weight leave her shoulders. She wanted to tell him right then and there that he was going to be a father but she decided to wait. Ryan and Esposito walked over both smiling.
"So Castle what's the first thing you want to do now that your back?" Ryan asked sitting on Beckett's desk.
"Go to the Old Haunt and have a cold one and see everyone."
"I think that can be arranged, want me to call Alexis and Martha?" Kate asked.
"Yeah, you guys up for it?" Castle asked Ryan and Espo both nodded.
"Well I wouldn't mind having some time with you before we go over." Kate said looking at Rick who smiled at her.
"Sure, swings?" She nodded taking his hand.
They got to their swing and sat down.
"So what happened after my. uh, disappearance?" Castle asked.
"Nothing much I got kicked off for a month and spent the whole time going through the evidence and files trying to figure out what had happened." Kate said swinging back and forth.
"I tried to get out for a long time every chance I got I thought of ways to escape, there were some points after the first week I didn't think I could do it any longer."
"You don't have to anymore, your safe. And we can finally get married." Kate said with a smile.
"And start on those three Caskett babies." Kate laughed.
"Yeah, there's something you might want to know." Kate said Rick looked at her. Kate reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out her ultrasound handing it to him. "I found out a week after the accident." Kate said not taking her eyes off of him.
"Your pregnant?"
"Yeah 11 weeks." Kate smiled.
"Ha, Come here" He said grabbing the chain pulling her closer to him kissing her. She smiled getting up she moved over to him. "I love you" He said she kissed him.
"I love you too" She said softly her phone buzzing.
"Major mood kill." Kate laughed
"They are all at the Old Haunt."
"I honestly can't wait to see Alexis, and my mother" Rick said as they walked back to the car. He couldn't take his eyes off of her the whole drive to the Old Haunt, he was to worried this was all just some wonderful dream. The old Haunt was busy tonight but they had the back room for their celebration. Everyone looked when Kate opened the door and before Rick knew it Alexis threw her arms around him. He smiled listing her up then setting her back down but she wouldn't let go as she sobbed into his chest, he ran his fingers through her hair kissing the top of her head softly.
"I'm here, I'm okay" He whispered she nodded. She finally let go so Martha could hug him which she did, breaking down into tears as well but she managed to hold herself better than Alexis. Jim shook his hand glad to have him back and hugged Kate who smiled at him. Everyone fell into casual conversation talking about everything Caste had missed. Jim took Kate's hand and pulled her over to one of the quiet corners.
"Alright, I haven't seen you for weeks and your acting completly different what's going on?"
"Castle's back."
"Not that, you, something's different." Jim said Kate glanced at Rick then back at her dad.
"You might have to change your plans for Christmas."
"Why?"
"Because I don't know exactly when my due date is but I want his or her grandpa to be there." Kate said biting her lip. Jim smiled, something Kate hadn't seen in a long time. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner hardly anyone knows, I just told Rick today."
"It's fine I'm happy for you, but you know what this means?"
"What?"
"It means that I have every right to spoil my grandchild rotten and teach them how to play baseball." He said with a grin.
"I would love that, but please don't tell people, for the most part this room knows but I'm only 11 weeks."
"I can do that" Jim said as Castle came up behind Kate wrapping his hands around to rest on her hips.
"Welcome back Rick, and congratulations."
"Thanks" Rick smiled Kate rolled her eyes. "Could I steel Kate away?"
"Sure, I'll talk to you later." Jim said as Castle dragged her out of the room and down to his office.
"You alright?" Kate asked as he grabbed her kissing her hard on the lips. "What was that for?" She asked with a soft laugh.
"My mom told me how strong you've been through all of this and how you never gave up believing I was alive. Thank you for that, makes me love you even more." Kate cupped her face in her hands looking him in the eyes.
"Always" She said softly, he smiled kissing her forehead before kneeling down in front of her resting his hands on her stomach, her bump hardly noticeable.
"Mommy makes Daddy so happy" He said softly, kissing her stomach. Kate smiled laying her hand on top of his.
"I love you" Kate said, Castle looked up at her.
"I love you too" He smiled standing back up to puller her into a long slow kiss.
