"Well, aren't you cute?" Janet said walking up to Lori.
Lori blushed. "I'm always cute."
"As you should be. Where's your boy toy." She asked while pushing a strand of Lori's hair from her shoulder and neatly straightened it.
"He should be on his way."
Janet mischievously smirked. "O.m.g. you're nervous!?" She asked poking fun at Lori fidgeting with the same strand of hair Janet just got done fixing.
"I'm not nervous, I just don't feel like this is necessary."
"You also don't think fabric softener is necessary..."
"It makes my skin itch...I have sensitive skin..." She calmly argued back.
"So get the one made for sensitive skin?..."
Lori shrugged and huffed. "Does it matter!?"
Janet rolled her eyes and creased her eyes brows. "Please." She said pushing herself on top of the bathroom counter. "So, the conversation went well, I'm assuming?"
"Yeah, I spoke to him. It's not that I thought he would look at me differently, it's just something I didn't care to let him know."
Janet frowned and twisted the top have of her body to look at her reflection in the mirror. "Lori, that man knew your ass was a Trophy Wife when he first laid eyes on you. It is not hard to tell that you were taught to sit silently and look pretty." Lori pressed her lips together and slightly frowned, then looked over her reflection in the mirror and tilted her head to the side. Though Lori was taught a specific lifestyle, it didn't quite take, instead, it only forced her to be even more independent than her mother would advise her to be. Being eye-candy for a very successful man, allowing him to do as he pleased as long as she was still being taken care of was not something Lori was interested in. As long as he was rich, pleasing to look at, and continued to make the family look successful then Marjorie was all for the relationship. There was an aesthetic, a status to uphold that Marjorie built upon herself and along with her daughters and she would assure that it continued. "He gone meet that woman eventually."
"Who said we'd be together that long?" She replied raising her right eyebrow.
Janet turned around and smirked. "So, this isn't long-term?"
Lori smiled and shook her head, she playfully rolled her eyes. "I'd like it to be but he doesn't really give me the long-term type of man."
"It's giving self-sabotage."
Lori shrugged. "You could say that. I just think he gets into his head when something is going too well." she said while squinting her eyes. "I don't think he has a problem with loving someone, he shows love easily and quickly... I just think he's scared of loving someone more than they love him."
Janet hopped down from the bathroom counter and walked past Lori, she leaned against the frame of the door and folded her arms across her chest. "As someone on the outside looking in, as much as I've gathered... I wouldn't go as far as to say he's in love, but I will say he's definitely... in like and he's in like with you way more than you are in like with him."
Lori began following Janet down the hallway. "In like!?" She babbled loud enough for Janet to hear her.
She nodded her head. "In-like."
"You think he's the type to propose after a year? what if that's what happened?!"
"What does it matter?"
