Lori stared at Aubrey for several long minutes. She had absolutely no clue who this man was or what he was, she just knew he was the complete opposite of who she, herself was falling for. This Aubrey was was ill-tempered, he was an explosive device packed with C-4 with the world's shortest wick.
She pressed four fingers to his face and drug them across his cheek whipping away the thick tears that fell, he closed his eyes frowning in embarrassment no longer angry at Nebby but with himself, this not and never was going to be a side of himself that Lori would see. This was an old long gone Aubrey, an adolescent Aubrey, a young and dumb Aubrey, but unfortunately certain past life occurrences triggered this Aubrey and what came out of the barrel was not pretty in the slightest. It was concerning, it was scary, it was something you got as far away from once seeing it, you didn't stick around for the after-party with things like this, people like this.
Lori grabbed the wrist of his injured hand and led him back into the living room sitting him down on the chair.
"Where's your first aid kit?" She asked staring down at him.
"Underneath the sink in my bathroom." He replied somberly.
She nodded and turned her back, he watched her until she completely disappeared from his sights, she pushed open the sleek grey door of his bedroom and looked around, it was what she expected, completely spotless, nothing looked out of place and if it was, it was fit so well that you couldn't tell, the clean bright white carpet paired against smooth dark grey and black furniture, the lamp on his nightstand was her only source of light, the darkness that showed itself through the tall windows of his room was of no help at all, his bed was wide at least four people could sleep comfortably, she looked up the wall, that Owl she seen on everything hung above his bed images pieced together to form a complete picture layered from edge to edge of the photo as it eerily glared down at her, as if it really did know who she was, as if it was watching her every move even when she wasn't with Aubrey, she quickly turned away from it and continued to explore but kept it short considering the circumstances that lent her this rare access to his room.
There was only one more door to go through so she wrapped her fingers around the cold metal lever and pushed down, leave it to Aubrey to not have a regular doorknob, he wasn't a regular man. The room lit up upon her entrance, the motion-sensitive lights started off very dim allowing the eyes to adjust naturally, it was his bathroom and it was just as dark in appearance as his bedroom, the marble floors were black with jagged streams of ash and charcoal grey throughout it, the cabinets a sleek black with long matte grey handles down them, the counters matched the floors, the mirror was long and wide surrounded by lights embedded into the walls, the time, temperature, day of the week, and date displayed in the bottom right corner of the mirror in neon blue, as the lighting brightened she was able to see further into the bathroom and it was a lot bigger than she expected, the shower extended from one end to the other, the glass doors completely transparent and stopped just bellow three showerheads that extended from the ceiling, she stepped further into the bathroom to her right a large bathtub of course black set in the same tile as the floor with the same matching matte grey handles from his cabinets. Lori frowned, noticing how clean everything was, it was like a hotel, like the cleaning lady came that morning to assure there was no trace of any past guests. There was nothing on the counters, in the shower, no body wash, razors, bottles of cologne, nothing. Between the tube and the shower, there was another door, she stared at it but backed away.
"You are in here to grab a first aid kit not look through his things." She said out loud to herself.
She kneeled at the sink counter and opened the cabinets, her eyes then fell upon a few of his personal items but the white and red box grabbed her attention and she reached for it, quickly stood up rushing to exit his room completely, for some odd reason Lori didn't like being in there without him, even though she was granted his permission it was still a feeling that was unwarranted, like a test to see if she would overstep what she was in there for and as meticulous and OCD Aubrey was, he'd probably be able to see the footprints her flesh left behind showing she went further into the bathroom than she needed to go, she closed the door and took a few quick breaths, tossed her hair to one side and fixed her face, the night alone was a lot, but now she had to spend three more days with him.
