It had been long since her legs were covered in rich satin, this time the color of choice was a deep emerald, often deemed a shade to those in power of wisdom, protection, awareness only to be met with such a thing like love. She wouldn't dare consider it weak, in fact it was a burning strength. Uncontrollable she likes to say, as if the things she's done in the past were indeed not her fault. No, she is not as naive as before. Jisoo knew better.
And to her side Jennie adjusted her garments. Her's were ruby. His favorite. She couldn't help herself, or as Jisoo would say, the opposite of unpretentious. Whatever that truly meant.
"There is still an hour until the earliest guests should show" Jennie spoke distractedly before tugging at the strings meant to wrap her back. Jisoo's eyes danced in amusement before she went to help. Only an hour until her dear welcoming party. Usually the idea would bore her, but something sparked her attention. It had been long since they all met in the bunker where they used to craft ruthless pranks that later went on to become something more. But then again what was a rich person without a little mess on their hands. What was the use of those expensive soaps and lotions, if there was nothing to clean up?
"Then we best finish our makeup" Jisoo replied
"Yeri-ah please tell me where we are going" Lisa begged once again, slightly anxious about wether her best friend was or wasn't kidnapping her. But then again her hope was with her too, "Really, this isn't cool!" Hoseok whined despite being significantly older than Yeri.
"Look his name is Kai, he's my cousin. The one that got expelled from our High School. You might not remember him" Yeri began oh so casually. "What did he do?" Lisa asked with widened eyes. "Oh now I get it, he's the one who'd always play tricks on the teachers! How is he? Man did he make my junior year exciting" Jhope said letting Lisa's heartbeat slow back down only to pick up again, "Ah he's fine, He got locked up a few times but his friends got him bailed out so it wasn't bad. "Yeri! Are you taking me to a criminal?" Lisa practically screamed. "Well kind of, but I think he could really help you"
The discussion was cut short when Yeri entered an apartment building area where she finally turned off the engine. It wasn't exactly a suspicious area, but it was sure lacking of energy. Yeri began moving up the stairs up until she reached room 408. After a few knocks came a boy with dirty blond hair whose eyes were sharp and aware. That until he saw Yeri and smiled. Suddenly Lisa saw a little boy in front of her.
They all entered his humble apartment with caution, not only because he doesn't have the best track record, but also because the entire place was littered with cans, garbage, and clothing. "Yah! I won't hesitate to tell Aunt where you live if you keep this up! God can't you do anything right!" Yeri started yelling as she threw a selection of items in the laundry basket . . . which was already overflowing with clothes.", "Well then Yeri i'll just go back home" Kai said obviously not caring for Yeri's livid expression. Lisa decided to stop the bloodbath to come by inserting herself, rather awkwardly, into the conversation. "So you don't live in Seoul? I mean you don't refer to it as home?". "I think if I were to name someplace home it would be in Seoul, but I got involved in something somewhere else so there's really no way of cutting strings back there" Kai said gazing out the window. Lisa wasn't one to miss his vague explanation but she decided against asking.
"So Lisa, I've got an idea but it may not be something you're capable of . . . no offense" He said as Lisa's brows scrunched. "Excuse you, but you don't know enough about me to underestimate me" She instantly refuted and to her surprise she saw Kai smile. "Ah, you really do have a temper" He said chuckling as Lisa threw her hands over her mouth.
"Surprisingly, I know Jeon enterprise well, maybe not the same one you do but I am familiar" Kai started, "Let's just say there's a lot of dirt back there that could easily ruin them. Of course you're only interested in getting back that scholarship so just take what you need".
"Blackmail. That your brilliant idea?" Lisa asked incredulously
"It works better then you'd think" Kai answered.
Hoseok scrunched his nose in scrutiny, "Alright but even if Lisa was willing, how the hell is she going to get information like that?"
"Well that's where the fun starts Lisa. Plus I hear they pay well"
"Good evening Madame" Jungkook said pulling the attention of a lady fawning over what looked like a rat. "Oh yes you must be Jeon Jungkook, here, this is poogie!" The lady said pushing the rat into Jungkook's arms, only then did he realize the rat was a dog. Quite an ugly one if he had anything to comment. "Yes, well, madame we don't allow puppies into the grand room, Kim Taehyung suffers from an allergy to all things with fur." He said before the lady left without even saying more. Manners were always a tricky thing to master.
"There you are Jungkook, what is that!" Jennie said coming up to him only to see the array of white and gold furs caught onto his jacket. "Had to steer away a rat and his mother" Jungkook answered while gritting his teeth in disgust. "Well go ask Jin for a change and while you're at it can you tell him the guests have begun to arrive!" Jennie said frantically pushing him towards the exit. To her surprise from that very exit was Kim Taehyung making his grand entrance towards her linking their arms together.
"You shouldn't be seen linking arms with a nobody like me. I can already feel pairs of eyes digging into my back" Jennie said as her eyes grazed over the other woman her age, all wearing strained smiles. "Oh Jennie, if anyone here is a nobody it surely isn't you" Taehyung said. Jennie was always doing that, denying her value. As if a person's true worth came from inheritance. It was a useless insecurity they all told her, but it still bit her once in a while, after all there wasn't much respect for the daughter of a maid.
Lisa watched in a daze, still trying to convince herself this was what she needed to do, but then again it was a little too late for that. She watched Yeri's car faded into a little dot in the distance before finally walking towards the gate. There was a line of at least a dozen of the most fancy cars lined up around a dainty roundabout fit with a large fountain in the middle easily towering seven times her height.
It was unusually quiet all except for the faint hum of what music they were playing in her hopeful destination, the Jeon hall of recreation, a stupid name for an extravagant hall. Tonight's event was the grand entrance of some rich daddy's girl as Kai had put it, and it just happened to be the best way for Lisa to make her own entrance.
Finally another voice was heard and Lisa knew it was time for the first step of her endeavor. Get past the guards.
"Names?" A large man said, he was wearing all black, tightly warm for the slightly chilly evening. A reply came to him from a man in a vehicle, "Lady Minatozaki". And suddenly the gate opened and allowed for the guests to enter only to close again for the next car. Lisa figured that she might be able to throw herself across the gate but with a high chance of getting manhandled before she could do anything. And so, Lisa had another plan.
The attention of the guards all moved towards Lisa who happened —by some utter coincidence (very much not true)— to be wearing a jet black dress that fell just below her knees, tied back with a pretty little apron. Oh and to top it off, a pin with a certain crest of significance. The guards didn't even blink twice in her direction before focusing back onto their line of guests. Who would to a maid anyway, a Jeon maid?
Lisa quickly made her way to the back door meant for workers, directions courtesy of Kai's not so legal maps. Instantly her ears rang in alarm to the chaos inside what was the kitchen. Maids, cooks, and waiters were walking in every direction with teapots steaming and large knives being thrown around to those who demanded it. Trying her best to seem in her element Lisa walked straight past the kitchen to what she hoped was Kai's inside woman. Don't ask her why he has one.
Finally familiar black locks were in sight matched with narrowed eyes of concentration. Just two more feet — "Stop! Where is the tray?" another voice suddenly bellowed. Lisa's attention was caught of guard towards the woman, and when she turned back her target was nowhere to be seen. Before Lisa could even look around a tray full of little sushi rolls was shoved into her hands and not long after she was being pushed out of the kitchen to a hall closed of by grand curtains. Lisa watched as another worker with his tray slipped in and out of the curtain. She figured she had to do the same. Walking up to the curtain she slipped through only for her breath to halt immediately. She was in a grand hall filled with pretty people and their fancy dresses. And who was directly in her eyesight? Mr. Jeon Jungkook.
